Doesn't mention SMU but SMU does contribute to his numbers argument in terms of NCAA history and next year's BB recruits.
Also, I know DeCourcy's is a BB-focused column but all the conference conversation is currently happening here on the FB board so I decided to put it here.

Good article. Seems like we have little choice except to embrace our conference for the next few years. Maybe set up a challenge with the Big East in Bball.

I presume the new Big East BB schools and other non-revenue sports will collaborate with the football old Big East schools on events. Aresco showed respect to the Catholic Seven, permitting them to spilt, keep their traditional brand and have the ability to host a championship at Madison Square Garden. He earned good will and accepted their reality. Should pay us dividends long term. Perhaps early season match ups between new BE and FB schools, similar to Big Ten and ACC games.AusTxPony wrote:Good article. Collaboration between the new Big East BB and old Big East would be awesome. I will not hold my breath but would love to see it happen.
On another topic, would also love to see SMU continue to engage UTEP in at least BB and maybe even football. They do bring the fans.

I agree that our OOC games should focus on TCU, Baylor, North Texas, Utep and UTSA/Texas State. I think most would help attendance figures in Dallas. Sadly, no to Rice.
