Actually, I thought that was a problem, as well. I envisioned a quality soccer field and stadium to support our Men and Women, as well as attract regional games, visiting pro teams and other sports, such a Lacrosse Games. Our soccer teams need to either upgrade Westcott Stadium or move across North Central Expressway, if Pettus footprint is too small as reported.

Who said anything about a regulation size? The football team practices on Pettus, and that's not marked off as a regulation-size field. If this field is for intramurals, they can deal with it if the size is a little irregular.

Which I guess means the new soccer stadium would be below street level or we will see some Top Golf-like netting to keep balls from sailing onto Mockingbird

Soccer deserves better than that. Move them to the other side of Central and give them a regulation size field.

I'm not sure you can compete in an NCAA Sport without a regulation field.

If soccer moves to current location of Pettus practice field, the plan likely would include building a grandstand on the south side of the field (yes, it would be a regulation size field).

Just looking at satellite view on google maps there is room for the footprint of the existing soccer field on the Pettus field. Some room left over for stands, but hard to estimate how much room we would need for that.

It doesn't look like anyone has moved a pebble at the tennis complex site for about 8 weeks.

We really should just put the IPF/performance center where Pettus is. I know people talk about not wanting to alter the entrance to campus and stuff, but the school has gone out of its way to make Yale the main entrance now anyway.
Plus, I don't know about you, but when I enter campus on Bishop you are so busy dealing with traffic on Mockingbird you aren't exactly looking at campus. It's not like the current fooball practice field is that picturesque anyway. You don't feel like you are on campus until you get past the Meadows museum and reach the split in Bishop. If you don't want a big brick building right on Mockingbird, then put some faux windows on that side and add some arches or something.
It would certiainly be less expensive than adding the cost of relocating soccer. Maybe some of that money could to to the promised Westcott renovations.
Most importantly, an east-west soccer field is no bueno!

In the interview with Hart he said that it was the likely site for the soccer stadium. So, picturesque practice field will not stay put, will be replaced with (hopefully) picturesque soccer stadium.

Have heard they are also considering Glencoe as a SMU soccer complex.

Nice. I think Glencoe would be a better place for track / field AND a baseball stadium. That whole area over there has alot of possibility. I think SMU should take that over.
