No, you're not. "Family friendly" is not fun. Making our games as fun as possible should be the goal, not pandering to a small slice of our fan base.

Agreed. If we are fortunate enough to get a wild atmosphere where families are not comfortable, then we can find a section to be designated family friendly. It does not need to be the main push for the whole stadium.

I dispute the notion that selling alcohol means it is not family friendly anyway. Rangers games are very family friendly and they sell booze there.

I like my adult alcoholic beverages as much as the next guy, but really, why do people feel the need to have a brew in the stadium to enjoy a football game or any other game for that matter? If you have been on the Blvd drinking your favorite drink for any length of time prior to the game, why do you need more during the game? Just curious.

Well for one not everyone can blow an entire day loitering and/or drinking on the blvd

It's very simple: we have as many people outside the stadium as inside, every game. Why don't they come inside? They want to drink and aren't done by game time. Lower the barrier. It's not a culture thing...it's "do we want those fans outside the stadium, or not?"

If not, set up daycare stations...at which point, I'm out.

With all due respect I do not believe this is true. There are 15000 in the stadium. During the game there are maybe 1% of that on the boulevard and while some say that thousands leave the boulevard but not to go to the game, I doubt that number exceeds 1000. Selling alcohol would be nice but will do very little for the attendance stats.

Alyssa is right on. A few drinks is fine but too many don't know when enough is enough and it shouldn't be in the stands at a sporting event to find out. Too many sneaking in flasks, etc anyway. they disrupt everyone around them and then here come the fights and cursing. It is a problem at most college and pro football games and rangers games too. How about a designated drunk tank section at the stadium in the end zone? No security guards just all the drunks there and see how it goes. Maybe keep the Allstate nets up behind the goalposts to protect on the field participants and then net extensions would be sponsored by budweiser and dwi attorneys since it is all about making money anyway. Other endzone would have the cussors and then true fans who appreciate the game in the main stands.

Our games are 4.5 hrs long - haha, actually not far off

some people think loud and obnoxious drunk fans make a better game atmosphere. It makes they cheer for the team. I don't support that. Most likely everyone on this board has been to a sporting event with loud drunks who think they are cute. It's not a comfortable situation.
The NJ Jets had a drunk fan smash into a car after a game and left a child in a wheel chair for life. Now they stop selling bear after the 3rd quarter after the Jets were sued for millions.
There is a liability issue to consider. I know I would sue everyone I could if a drunk crippled any family member of mine.

I'm not opposed to beer in the stadium, and I'm also not particularly for it. I don't think this would even be an issue if the rest of the game day presentation was up to par. And if the product on the field was reliably good, but I guess that's another problem.
