New Exit Signage on Central

They updated the exit signs on Central today to add SMU Blvd.

Exit 3 Northbound is now Mockingbird Ln/SMU Blvd and Exit 4 southbound is now Lovers Ln/SMU Blvd.

They also added the brown "places of interest" signs for the George W. Bush Library.

Pretty cool all around!

THe only thing more overdue then those signs is a Dart stop at EITHER of our airports. Most cities start with a connection to the airport but we are still waiting, and Dart is coming in on the wrong side of Love Field - crazy.

but back to the signs - they look great.

They really do jump out at you - not only because they are shiny and new but also because they are in Clearview instead of the older Highway Gothic which is still prevalent in most of the signage on that section of highway.

No more complaining about all of the people who drive up and down Central every day and probably have no idea where SMU is!

I drove by the signs yesterday. They look great and really do stand out.

I'm glad that SMU is starting to understand the functionality of having SMU Blvd. be the main gateway into campus. I'll always have a soft spot for the beautiful drive up through Bishop, but logistically its a nightmare to navigate on a good day. When the construction is finally complete, the new entrance to SMU via SMU Blvd. will be quite spectacular.

When they changed Yale Blvd to SMU Blvd, I thought that it was pretty much useless. Years later, they were correct.

BTW - one of my fraternity brothers was told that the long term plan for SMU Blvd involves moving the fraternities to another location.
