HowdyI'm just an Aggie pumped up for the game next year. As you can tell from my username, I live in Dallas so I am a small SMU fan. I go to couple of games per year, I am hoping 6 wins next year for y'all! But visit
http://www.texags.com if you wanna talk about our team, etc.
Welcome to PonyFans.com. How much better/worse do you expect your team to be in '05? I see a slight improvement for Aggies, hopefully a bigger improvement for the Ponies!
Great response, Higher Authority. I posted over on texasags.com a question regarding the game time of our 9/17 visit to College Station. Note the disparity in...dare I say...class? between Higher Authority's response and the Aggie response to my post over on their board.
That's a real credit to the Ponyfans.com board. Then again, I guess we save those kinds of comments for our own.
RGV majority of the ags on texags are classy, but the bad apples stand out. Every school has their obnoxious fans. I expect A&M to have a huge improvement with heisman candidate Reggie McNeal at quarterback and the deepest wide receiving corps in the nation leading the way. On defense, our defensive line is our strongest part, but our weak link is the secondary. They are talented, but have little experience. What are SMU's strengths and weaknesses?
Deepest WR corps in the nation? Didn't realize there was THAT much wideout talent down there.
I've got to back Dtown's assessment here: sure, there are some knuckleeheads in aggieville, but the vast majority of them are good, hospitable fans. I'm looking forward to the game. SMU strengths: Much more experience/ability at QB Tight end Vastly improved LBs (thanks in large part to better health) More experience at RB More experience (and size) at OL Kicking game Weaknesses: Inexperienced DL Lack of game-breaking WR (although Bobby Chase is a rising stud) Speed CBs aren't big, big CBs are inexperienced Uncertainty at safety opposite Harper (until Randall Goode solidifies the spot) SMU! SMU! SMU!
There are other sites other then Texags. A new one is aggiefans.com
It just started in March and has a good group of posters. Texags has a huge number of posters and you'll run into those "classless" posters just because you'll find any in large numbers. Anyway, I just want to invite you to head over to Aggiefans.com and discuss the game if you'd like. BCS in '06

In response to the questions about SMU's strengths and weaknesses...well, truthfully I think most of us will acknowledge that a weakness is (has been) being able to compete/stay on the field vs. high caliber competition. We're all hoping it looks more like last year's Texas Tech game than the previous few Ok. State games.
Thanks for the suggestions. The Aggies that have posted over here have been pleasant to hear from. Here's a taste of the stuff mentioned at Texasags...and the reason why next time I'll ask my question at aggiefans.com. Kind of reminded me of what a judge said to an opposing witness when I was in court last year..."...would you like to answer the question, please?" (i.e. I had posted a reasonably simple question). I won't drag this out any further, lest it look like I'm wining.

We need more of this behavior to fill the stands. This is the exact kind of marketing stategy that the Frogs used so effectively in FW. They encouraged everybody to support their alma mater, but also to "support the home-town team!" This makes it easy for one not to feel disloyal. Friday night football needs to be followed by Div. 1A football at SMU especially for the people that can't take a weekend roadtrip to their university. During football season, the Startle-gram always has big ads and the airwaves push this thought. It's the greater Dallas community thought that has to affected, not that the DMN helps much.
A&M's weaknesses on offense our the offensive line and running game. Last year our leading rusher had around 800 yards I think, but this year we have true freshman Javorskie Lane out of Lufkin who was in my opinion the top back in the state last year. Courtney Lewis our starting back last year was rumored to be injured last year so I expect over 1000 yards this season.
