"Does Frazier delay bode well for SMU?

ESPN 100 guard Keith Frazier (Dallas/Kimball) decided he'll wait until after the McDonald's All American game on April 3rd to make his college decision. Frazier had announced earlier this month he'd make his decision today. Ranked No. 48 in the class of 2013, the 6-foot-5 Frazier is considering SMU, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M but most in the recruiting community believe SMU is the front-runner. Can we make anything out of Frazier delaying the decision a week?

"I just want to be 100% sure. I only want to make this decision once," Frazier told our Reggie Rankin in response to why he's holding off. SMU is in the lead for multiple reasons. The Mustang staff, led by Larry Brown, has been recruiting him the hardest and most consistently from Day 1. At SMU, he'd be in Dallas where he'd have the immediate support of friends and family. His hopes of making the NBA could best be served by thriving under the tutelage of a seasoned NBA vet like Brown. He'd immediately start and be asked to lead the team on the court. Having said all this, does the delay mean Texas A&M and Texas Tech are closer than most people think? It's possible either of those schools have emerged as a compelling enough contender to wrest Frazier out of the Dallas area, which would be a significant blow to Brown's efforts to catapult the SMU program into basketball relevance. "

I don't think it will be a "significant blow" to LB's catapulting efforts, but I do hope we land him. We've got more than just Frazier, and he'll be competing for a spot under LB.

I dont mean to diminish his potential contributions, but LB is building something special here - and has more to offer someone like KF who has special god given talent. if KF is going to be lead around by his nose by his "handlers" then we are better off without him. If, on the other hand he is a man who is ready to put in the time it takes to be a professional in this sport, than he needs to sign post haste and get rolling with the best teacher in the game. Its just that special. We cant lose.

I just hope we didn't promise him he'd start.

Between Moore, Head, Russell, Manual we'll have some solid upperclassman talent. Starting a freshman because he had the most stars next to his name could ruin what seems to be a good dynamic.

I am sure LB has it all under control, and he knows what he's doing. Also, I have no problem with the kid starting if he puts in the work and earns the respect of the team.

Kid actually seems like he has a pretty good head on his shoulders.
