I'm sure PonyPride can go into more detail, but it is the PF.com logo that someone came up with way back in the day.

Correct. It is the PonyFans.com logo, not the SMU logo or the "phony pony" which is a commonly occurring logo that has been used mistakenly throughout the years.

Somehow, this logo started infiltrating SMU merchandise in the early 90s and still does to this day.
