Given the cuts that LB made upon arrival, they had to be aware that this season would be a sort of tryout. Plus, the late arrival of LB probably limited their options to try to back out of the LOI's. Personally, I would like to see Bernardi rewarded for his hard work. When SMU needed help of the bench, he was the only one that provided any help. But, even if he wasn't cut, I think Bernardi would be smart to find a new home (and I assume that LB will help him). Going forward, minutes are going to be very hard to get. He can shoot, works hard, and seems to have good attitude. At another program, he could be a starter and key contributer.

I think Bernardi was a great fit for SMU circa two years ago. But with the level of the guys who are coming in/gaining eligibility next season, I'm not sure SMU is the right place for him anymore. But I like Bernardi a lot for the reasons stated in this thread. I think at the right mid-major program, he could be a big contributor.

I believe players can apply for a medical redshirt only AFTER they finish up their fifth year of eligibility. That's the way it used to work in football, anyway. Has the rule changed?

Garrett Gilbert got one during/after his third year of eligibility without using his "normal" redshirt year. I'm not sure if the rules are different for basketball

IIRC, it had something to do with his transfer process, but I could be wrong.

In this week's news conference LB said he knows who he is leaving and working with them to find them a good situation.

uh...wanna bet? Bernardi will never see the court if he stays, and i am guessing he wont have that option. he is defensive liability. Frazier shoots better then he does and does everything else he doesn't do. He would be the third 2 guard.

U have no frigging idea....how much dude? Frazier could never in his life shoot like BB......BB STILL shoots 1000 shots on the gun every day..no one does that..LB didn't even consider cutting him.

could we institue a pony fans WWE smackdown for all future arguments and disagrements? I'm pretty sure it would be absolutely awesome. We could make a blvd event and get some of those big gloves or battle sticks. Put pony fans on it and away we go!

First off, there are 3 or 4 kids that won't play next year. We are 13 deep. Second, Bernardi wasnt a defensive liability. Third, Frazier has never even tried to play D yet, so that's a wait 'n' see. Lastly, You can't have too many shooters. If you think a shooter like Bernardi is a liability w/the type of slashers we have, you're kidding yourself. Have to have shooters on the arc when your slashers get in the lane.
