Auburn under fire again?

Post by CenTXpony »

I know it's the bleacher report, but I initially heard the story through Paul Finebaum on ESPN... Surely the NCAA will enforce some sort of consequences this time around....

Reported on ESPN website today. Good thing there was "insufficient evidence" in the Cam Newton case or the NCAA might have had to significantly penalize a big school.

I find it funny that the person who initially broke the story (Selena Roberts) is an Auburn alum, she also broke the story on the Duke Lacrosse rape scandal....

I find the poll question and choices posed to be rather funny:

Will Auburn be punished for these accusations?
Yes, it will receive NCAA sanctions and more
No, it will be proven innocent
Undecided

They forgot the fourth choice, which is the most likely outcome: No, because the NCAA will find or invent a reason why they should look the other way, as they usually do when a major program is involved.

The NCAA certainly didn't look the other way on USC or Penn State, two "major programs." I imagine Miami may still get hit pretty hard too.

I'm starting to think Auburn did something wrong in 2010.

Penn State has proven that there is literally nothing a program can do to get the death penalty now.

or, as an alternative ending, the ncaa could offer the attorney/witness/players/auburn alums a 'deal' to help in the prosecution of the case and OOOPS...

...cause themselves to be implicated in wrongdoing...involving a major program that feeds the ncaa coffers...and nothing substantive will happen, AGAIN.

I think I see how this is working now...
