Ford Stadium improvements
Walked around the stadium today and saw that construction has begun on the improvements that were announced in February for the 2013 season. Looks like they have ripped out a few of the top rows of bleachers underneath the suites to accommodate the new suites.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't some of those areas being renovated for the new suites (towards the north end of the stadium) the site where old offices were? Are those offices being moved somewhere?

I believe the offices stay - just the Hall of Champions being "converted" - the fans using the seats below the offices will walk south over to the entrance to the "club" area.East Coast Mustang wrote: Aren't some of those areas being renovated for the new suites (towards the north end of the stadium) the site where old offices were? Eliminating the offices with premium views for 6 home games per year would be crazy.

Maybe we can get some TVs made this century for the concourse? I can't help but to notice the very nice ones in the club level and suites...

Re: Ford Stadium improvements
Got into a discussion last night concerning all the construction on campus. Their point of view was that the only thing being supervised by an outside contruction managament firm was the Bush Library--which is on time and on budget. Their complaints were that the rest of the construction is managed in house is delayed and over budget. They pointed out the second-year dorms will no longer be available this fall, but not until next fall '14; and the tennis facility which hasn't even begun construction.
Does anyone know the facts? Are we over budget by any significant amounts and facing delays? What about Moody? Is it on budget?

The new dorms were never intended to be open for '13. The plan was always for Fall 2014.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Ford Stadium improvements
Moody is about 17MM over budget. Don't know specifics, just that it is turning out to be way more expensive than originally thought............And fall '14 was always the target date for the dorms.....Mexmustang wrote:Got into a discussion last night concerning all the construction on campus. Surprised dorms won't be ready until next Fall. They look pretty close to completion now (at least from the outside)

Re: Ford Stadium improvements
Thanks for your insight. What was the original timing on tennis? Seems to me we could have deferred tearing down the varsity courts for the parking lot until the new one were under construction. Any insight?

Our University is truly becoming one of the Most Beautiful Campuses in America. I wish they could up the enrollment another 5,000 undergrads so we could get some crowds at our sporting events.
