I like this move. I would like it even more if we could get space for it in the DMN.
And yes, the name is corny. I've heard worse though

Hilarious. People complain that he does not communicate enough, he launches a weekly column and people complain that he should spend the time engaging the Dallas community. As Myrdel pointed out, he can do both.
Plus, you now have a perfect forum to write in and tell him that he should cancel he column and spend time engaging the community.

Well, you do have to remember there is a certain percentage of SMU fans who would find something to complain about if we went 14-0.Grant Carter wrote:Hilarious. I hope you are not directing your comment towards me. If you are, I am merely wanting to know who are the groups he mentions he talked to. I am not complaining.Grant Carter wrote:Hilarious. I was responding to the person who said it was time better spent engaging the Dallas community and the person who agreed with him, not you. No reason to apologize.lwjr wrote:I hope you are not directing your comment towards me. If you are, I am merely wanting to know who are the groups he mentions he talked to. Guess you will just have to read the column to find out. Please let us know what you discover.couch 'em wrote:Will it be real answers or fluff?

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Athletic department launches "Straight from the Hart" co
We should all be thrilled that our AD is making an effort to reach out to bloggers, and recognizes that this group alongside PonyPride/Scout are the lifeblood of Mustang support.
If he actually listens and takes some of our ideas that we all agree on and puts them in to action, then it will make him one of the more innovative Ad's in the country.
Let's really use this opportunity to push for things like better jerseys (Blue!) and to expresse our opinions on marketing campaigns, gameday experience, ticket pricing, etc. All the things we bicker about to each other...

As I've said before, some posters on here could get stranded on a desert island with two supermodels and would still complain about the glare from the sun.
Yeah, some of his answers are going to be fluff. What do you expect....this?
Q: Hey Rick, can we get new uniforms next year? Preferably blue ones?
A: No, Nike doesn't give a [deleted] about us and we'll have the same crap as last year, but we're stuck with it because they pay us more than adidas.
Q: Hey Rick, can we serve beer at games?
A: No, there's this stuck up [deleted] woman on the board that won't let us, otherwise we would.
Q: Hey Rick, any chance we get a baseball team in the near future?
A: No, Title IX is a [deleted] initiative that we're stuck with, and as a result we have to fund all of these stupid women's sports that no one cares about instead. So unless you write a multimillion dollar check, the answer is no.
I could go on, but I'll stop. You get my point. I like Rick Hart, I talked to him once at a bball game and he's a really nice guy who went out of his way to answer some of my questions in a genuine manner and make conversation - and I'm not some megadonor or anything. He's been around big-time college athletics before at OU and I think he knows what it takes to get the ball rolling here. Just because he hasn't gotten us in the Big 12 yet doesn't mean he's doing a bad job. Pony Up

There will be some times when he can't give an answer we might want on certain issues, but I'll be interested to see what kind of feedback he offers. If done right, this could be a really nice feature on SMUMustangs.com
