Great Phony Lite Momments

Postby Stallion » Wed May 25, 2005 10:09 am

.....I can't WAIT until we get to the first Post DP GREATEST MOMENTS IN SMU HISTORY that was achieved against a team with a winning record. One thing in common with ALL these GREAT PHONY LITE MOMENTS is that they have occurred against simply awful football teams. This is one of the biggest scams pulled off by the Athletic Department since the ALL SMU History Football team named a few years ago that included Mike Romo and Bill Kiely et al as All-Time greats. "Some of these things don't go together, some of these things just don't belong...."

This whole thing is truly ridiculous... very, very weak... a futile attempt at making chicken salad out of... ranks right up there with Mustang Maniac. He/She/It went away... maybe this will, too.

Yeah, this is a SCAM right up there with identity theft and predatory lending. It is called marketing and promotion, you imbecile.

I think individual records have a place on the list. If they were acheived in 30's or 40's that is great. If they occurred in the 90's, that is fine with me too. It is not an insult to the memory of Doak Walker to to put the longest run from scrimmage on the list at friggin' number 79 just because it happened in the 2002.

BTW, I have in on good authority that the number one moment is Bennett's win over San Jose State.

Also, since you were not alive to see Doak Walker play for SMU, you are not entitled to have an opinion.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Stallion you should show some repsect for the Mike Romo's and Bill Kiely's of the post dp days who helped raise the program from the ashes and came to SMU for the love of the game and not the money. Do you not remeber how sweet it was when those guys were fourth year seniors and avenged the Houston loss.

Show some repsect, rag on the administration and the lack of leadership from the AD but don't diminish what those guys did.

Also, everyone knows how much you like to rag on Rossley, I am sure you did not speak w/ him when he came to last years homecoming game. You can say what you will and argue that he was not a great coach (although he is better than anything we have had since), but he definitely loved SMU.

Actually PK, in 2 of the 3 years, Arkansas had a 4-7 record.

I have no problem with Bill Keily or Mke Romo as long as they aren't put in a group of the Top 30 players in SMU history like they were a few years ago. Now if they want to name a team of the Top 500 Players in SMU History I'm sure they would be recive some consideration.

Be that as it may, they went Bowling in '96 and they certainly didn't meet the definition in the statement "One thing in common with ALL these GREAT PHONY LITE MOMENTS is that they have occurred against simply awful football teams." seeing as how they were then and still are an SEC team.

Boring. The title says 90, not 9, and helping new and old Pont fans recall the past is an excellent idea.

We can't rewrite the past and positives are a postive. The alternative is for you to remind us once again that we are not worthy. Get a life. We are college FB fans, who love SMU. What is your problem?

I do have a hobby - its protecting the tradition of SMU athletics from pathetic people like you that get all giggly from [attempting to] beat up on the Southland and/Magnolia Conferences. This is a SHAM and anybody that really knows SMU football realizes that.

Stallion whipped out the thesaurus. Now, it isn't a scam, but a sham. Way to go!!!

I have been thinking about it. My favorite nonsensical rant of yours was a year ago when you called the parents of SMU players "temporary fans". That really was a level of genius that will never be matched. I am a little disappointed you didn't feel the need to chime in with that rant on Adami's parents thread. It would have been classic.

Stallion, I wish you realized how much your constant negativity and willingness to argue over anything and insult anybody hurts your credibility. Most people on this board agree with you, but you can't do anything but antagonize people. It really is frustrating. With each one of these ridiculous tirades, you just make it more and more difficult for anyone to take you seriously because they have to wonder if you take yourself seriously.

Bingo, well said. I actually think Stallion has great insight, but have little use for the sky is falling bit. I have been a Mustang since 1964 and I don't give a rip about the DP any more.

To say we have struggled and disappointed a lot of people in the past is a given and I AGREE. But, I am looking forward to the 2005 season, team and wins.

Yeah Baby! Austin Powers

I'm of the opinion that nobody who posts on these kinds of boards should take themselves or anybody else too seriously, for what little that's worth.
