Re: Post spring depth chart
Our wide receivers don't get me fired up at all. The weakest position on the whole team in my opinion.

Re: Post spring depth chart
9 Sr starters.
A lot of Fr or FR-RS
A lot of lettermen
Lettermen two deep in some positions
Looks like a health sprinkling of experience and youth.
This looks like a better rounded team with Sr experience and RS depth.
I was a bit surprised that Sanders wasn’t listed
There will be some changes by the opening kickoff due to injuries and incoming Fr.
This could be an exciting year.

Acker may get some Heisman votes what with playing receiver, returning punts and starting at right corner!

Guess we won't see much of C. Preston.

I thought the same thing. Waiting for the announcement that he is transferring to EWU

Surprising not to see Colin Lagasse in there. Where is he in the mix, 3rd team?
Re: Post spring depth chart
Assuming Gilbert stays healthy, we won't see much of Neal Burcham, either. Gilbert will play most of the snaps, if not all, unless there are any massive blowouts in either direction, and even then, Burcham would only get a handful of snaps at the very end.

Exactly why I'm hoping June calls a lot more run plays than he did last season (not optimistic though).

Re: Post spring depth chart
I think CP won't transfer.
I like the line. I think Miller and Walling will be pushed by Frosh for depth.
Expect to see more rotations at WR this year.
- JJ is a lock starter. Acker will give him a breather from time to time. if they are listing Acker behind JJ at WR, that implies that Acker will be playing corner in the fall with occasional time over on offense. If they planned on Acker playing offense full time, he would start over DJ.
- Walker is listed behind DJ, but will be challenged by Deion in that position. Either Deion challenges here and Stewart is groomed to replace JJ next year, or they reverse it with Deion in the other slot and Stewart here.
- Thompson doesn't have anyone of note behind him out wide. They will have a handful of true frosh at this spot in the fall running behind him.
- Ace looked in a lot better shape in the spring, then got hurt. The top frosh wide out will compete at this position with Halverson and the others Definitely the weakest wideout position.
- LDE is set up for Minor to compete against Barnes in the fall. The others won't be on the two deep.
- we are three deep at several LB positions. That group is really, really good and I think it is going to make our special teams really strong this year.
- Placing Horace Richardson on Parks' side means he is ahead of JR right now. Montes ahead of Law. 6 good corners, and remember that Parks played hurt a lot last season.
- Expect some competition at safety in the fall from true frosh and AJ Justice.

Still baffles my mind how we dont have any stud WRs in year 6, you have to fill in the gaps. Jeremy Johnson didn't have a good year filling in for Beasley. Still haven't found a deep consistent WR threat when most of your entire offense is based on the home run ball. Thompson has been very disappointing. Luckily, we should be ok at RB.

Didn't at least one WR transfer? I think the story was he wanted to be closer to home. How is (are) the Player (players) who transferred doing at his (their) new schools?

Jeremy Johnson had the most catches for a first year starter in SMU History. Compare his first year to Cole Beasley's first year-that's a better comparison. You build with experience. He did go absent late in year but overall his season was a success

Re: Post spring depth chart
I have a tough time believing this depth chart is legit. Stewart should be a starter and play maker for us. Will be interesting to see if Gaines plays right away, and I think Taylor will be special for us I just don't know when he'll start getting PT.
And what's the story on Lowe? Amazing he's nowhere in the depth chart.

I have a feeling Deion Jr. will get on the field a lot.
