Still haven't found a deep consistent WR threat when most of your entire offense is based on the home run ball. Thompson has been very disappointing. Luckily, we should be ok at RB.

Jeremy Johnson had the most catches for a first year starter in SMU History. Compare his first year to Cole Beasley's first year-that's a better comparison. You build with experience. He did go absent late in year but overall his season was a success

- JJ is a lock starter. Acker will give him a breather from time to time. if they are listing Acker behind JJ at WR, that implies that Acker will be playing corner in the fall with occasional time over on offense. If they planned on Acker playing offense full time, he would start over DJ.

That's my guess, too.

- Walker is listed behind DJ, but will be challenged by Deion in that position. Either Deion challenges here and Stewart is groomed to replace JJ next year, or they reverse it with Deion in the other slot and Stewart here.

I would expect Lagasse to be in the mix in there somewhere, too.

The top frosh wide out will compete at this position with Halverson and the others Definitely the weakest wideout position.

Based on PP's reports, it sounded like Halverson made a lot of plays this spring, including on deep balls. I think he could be the wild card on the outside.

- LDE is set up for Minor to compete against Barnes in the fall. The others won't be on the two deep.

What makes you say that? Weren't Mason and players fawning over McCleneghen? I'm not saying he starts, but it sounded like he had earned a legitimate spot in the rotation.

- Placing Horace Richardson on Parks' side means he is ahead of JR right now. Montes ahead of Law. 6 good corners, and remember that Parks played hurt a lot last season.

I wonder if it's that, or simply the fact that JR was nursing injuries in the spring and didn't practice much. Isn't that June's M.O. ... list who actually is practicing? Or maybe Horace is just more comfortable on Parks' side?

Leading the team in receptions isn't a good year? I'll take another 67 catches from Jeremy again this year.

I have a tough time believing this depth chart is legit. Stewart should be a starter and play maker for us. Will be interesting to see if Gaines plays right away, and I think Taylor will be special for us I just don't know when he'll start getting PT.

I can't believe JJ or any coach puts much time in a post-spring depth chart, and we probably shouldn't put too much stock in it, either.

What has Stewart done to suggest he should be a starter? Did he do anything in the fall or spring to merit that?

I agree that Gaines and maybe JaBryce Taylor sound like players who could challenge...

they ought to keep a stat on first down/scoring receptions for receivers especially on 3rd downs. I think Jeremy in Games 1-8 had a significant amount of first down receptions-don't know why he tappered off-but probably because Darius Johnson came back

Jeremy Johnson and others are good but I agree, I would have thought in year 6 we'd have some Michael Crabtree's amongst our wr's. JJ's brought in some good athletes and upgraded size but some pretty bad hands and possibly not the hardest workers amongst a few. The hands problem might be from so many guys who were athletes in high school but never caught a lot of passes (Holman, Holleman, etc...kind of projects vs going for proven receivers).

Joyner and Pope are just fine in the middle.
