Padron waived

I think the point is the opposite actually. That no June Jones coached QB has made it in the NFL.
June thanks you for coming to his rescue though, regardless.

Re: Padron waived
So if padron doesn't make it then it is a great opportunity to slam June. If he did make then it would be a great opportunity to slam June because he could not have success with a qb good enough to play in the nfl. Seems reasonable.

I found this:Junior wrote:i don't think he actually made it to OTA's since he hasn't graduated yet. he wasn't going to be able to report until june 14th after he graduated since he's on the quarter system at EWU.RyanSMU98 wrote:He made it 3 1/2 weeks in an NFL camp, which quite honestly is 3 1/2 weeks longer than I thought he would. Maybe he'll find a home up north.

While Padron was unable to attend Raiders OTA's due to his college classes not being complete yet, the Raiders added a fifth quarterback to the roster - Matt McGloin.
Padron did attend Raiders three-day rookie minicamp where he failed to impress coaches and at times looked downright awful.
Re: Padron waived
Ouch. Say what you want about the kid, his parents and his decisions on college, I for one have no ill will towards him and wish him success in whatever he ends up doing. It is too bad he apparently laid a steaming pile in Oakland, but hopefully the experience drives home the importance of having options and he finishes his degree.

Re: Padron waived
A couple of questions then. Number one, is June Jones' job to prepare QBs for the NFL? Or is his job to win college games? Second, even if it matters, what's a comparison point? What is a reasonable expectation for how many QBs under him should have made it? Since he's spent his college coaching career at two mid level schools, how many quarterbacks on average does a mid level school have make it in the NFL over the same time period JJ has coached? You can't just throw stuff out there without a reasonable yardstick/expectation.SMU2007 wrote:I think the point is the opposite actually. That no June Jones coached QB has made it in the NFL.

Are you seriously that ignorant of statistics that you'd throw out one data point and expect it to prove anything?

There are about 180 mid level teams and only 5 have done what we're requiring JJ to do?

Not sure those 180 teams are all clamoring that they should be in a BCS conference.............ponyboy wrote:There are about 180 mid level teams and only 5 have done what we're requiring JJ to do?

Ponyboy you are usually a pretty informed (if not blindly optimistic) poster, but you are WAY off base here.
We're talking about making an NFL roster. Not exactly the most ridiculous benchmark. As of 2010, just out of CUSA alone, there were 6 QBs who made opening day rosters (from uab, Utep, southern miss, Houston, ecu, and marshall)
I do think this is a relevant stat. While June's job isn't necessarily to put players in the NFL (somewhat debatable), it does say something about the type of talent he has been able to attract and skill he has been able to develop. For a supposed qb guru, I don't think this is a favorable statistic.
