TCU gets $30+ million a year?
Over on the Frog Forum (yeah, I know, why are you looking at it), they say that TCU this year will be getting about $33 million from it's Conference agreements, and that will rise to the "low $40's" within a year or two. So the question is, how can schools (like guess who) compete in the world of collegiate athletics with such a disparity of income? Nobody said life was fair, they say, but looks like something sooner or later has to be done to level the playing field a bit.

I would think you would be looking at the frog board because if I recall you said you are a TCU alum who married an SMU alum. So why the deception?

Obvious but true - the ten big 12 teams get a bigger slice of revenue pie from their conference then say the 14 team SEC or B!G. TCU soon to be one of the richer programs in the country.
Also, the Sugar Bowl tie in is a cash cow with the conferences taking the lion's share of revenue for that bowl with the corrupt bowl committee "charitable trust" being cut out. The AAC should partner with other conferences and do the same thing.

Half the battle is hiring the right coaches, the other half is paying them competitive salaries so you can keep them.

What's deceiving about this? I married an SMU grad, one of three kids went to SMU. Don't I have a right to be concerned for SMU athletics? Some of us actually like both schools! This year is reportedly mid 20s per team with TCU and WVU on a half cut as a league buy in.
IIRC they start at 50% and get larger percentages on a 3-4 year rising scale until they get 100%. I am not sure but I think it's 50%, 67%, 85%, 100% but I could be wrong.
I think the 30mm projection from the article they referenced was for 2014 or 15 when the playoff (51.2mm) and new deal with the Sugar Bowl (40mm) gets split ten ways for the first time.

Then why don't you just admit as to why you are looking at the frog board. You should not be ashamed of it.Oldmins wrote:What's deceiving about this? The answer that none of us want to hear (but is correct) is that you can't compete given that kind of disparity. TCU has left us in the rearview for good. We will (in all liklihood) never get to their level both in conference affiliation or revenue. It doesn't mean that SMU can't be a quality program, but we will not be able to compete with TCU in terms of conference or money ever again in athletics.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Mrydel is a hoot period.
Why is this information news? Nothing we don't already know. Am I supposed to get worked up that the Big 12 teams get more than the AAC? This is life in the modern NCAA.
