This story should enrage people and not only illustrate how poor of an institution the NCAA but even more demonstrate they need to be regulated. Any governing body should see this story and sue them for wrongful persecution. When will someone take this to the courts?
This is a tough one. My kid played against Houston in high school. His school, Buford has the most physical program in the state of Georgia in any classification. There have been whispers about them for years. Hopefully this stuff will cycle out of his system and allow him to compete for one year. I admire his tenacity.
I don't feel sorry at all for this kid. And this is the usual BS bias report designed to wrench one's heart.
Nandrolone (two preparations) was originally FDA approved in 1962 for anemia related to kidney disease. It is now used in HIV/AIDS refractory anemia cases. It also has recently been suggested to use in cases of osteoporosis in the elderly. However side effects limited its use in this group. It was never been approved for healing of shoulder injuries (or any other injury).
The drug manufacture in this country was discontinued in 2002. A citizen’s petition to the FDA in 2009 determined the drug was not withdrawn for safety reasons and thus other manufacturers could make the drug. A limited amount was produced for complications related to HIV/AIDS.
The stuff is still manufactured outside the US but is redeadily available through underground labs.
There is a published study looking into the use of nandrolone in muscle tissue injury. The results showed enhanced muscle regeneration in 42 days post injury. This study was performed on castrated rats. Thus, human studies a doctor could have used to justify using this drug to treat a shoulder injury do not exist. If the kid is castrated them maybe …
In 2011 there was a published study looking at this drug in rats with septic shock. Not exactly a study related to a shoulder injury.
There is no doubt in my mind this kid used nandrolone, which is used by athletes around the world, to enhance performance. The pharmokenetics of the drug are straight forward and follow a linear path. Thus, the more one uses, the longer is stays in the body. Given that the drug isn’t accessible through conventional labs, but widely available through underground labs, it is possible that the prolong presents of the drug is due to preps that were not subject to quality control regulations.
The NCAA may be unreasonable, but this kid hasn't told the complete story either.
This gives a glimpse as to why my trips to Dallas and back are so enjoyable when traveling with Ponyte. I will have earned my medical decree by the time Jones leaves and only pay for half the gasoline.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
They would have to show that the doctor actually injected him with that, not just saying he did. There's got to be a receipt or record. If not it's probably a lie.

I feel like I need a bath after semi taking up for the NCAA. And to think, Stallion feels like this all the time!
