That is the way to do it. Endzone seats need to be minimized.East Coast Mustang wrote:I've always thought they built way too many undesirable seats in Ford, in the North endzone. Should have double decked either sideline with decks of seats + suites in between, had some club area in the North endzone with a windowed "football center" with coaches' offices or whatever over it and then left the south endzone the same with scoreboard. Just my opinion, I'm not an architect, and obviously that water passed under the bridge a long time ago
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

The tackle box is getting a $450M makeover at the end of 2013. From a physical condition and aesthetic perspective Kyle Field is an eyesore (now). What makes Kyle great is the game day atmosphere and home field advantage. Soon the physical condition will match.

By game day atmosphere, if you mean the student involvement, yes. If by game day atmosphere you mean tailgating, it sucks. If by sight lines or any other measure of stadium amenities, it sucks.MaroonPony wrote:Bergermeister wrote:It's just downright u-g-l-y. By game day atmosphere, I'm referring to the total game day experience. I'm talking about the pomp and circumstance and the pageantry and tradition that makes CFB so special. Despite the physical limitations, Kyle consistently places in the top 15-20 in these types of rankings. It's why College Game Day makes an annual visit.
They aren't ranking the concession stand or men's public restrooms. It's college football.

Been to games at everywhere smu plays including kyle, as well as 3 sec venues, two SEC championship games and Notre Dame.
I'd have to give Kyle a thumbs down as well.

Oh man, I need to get out more. I thought Kyle Field was pretty damned impressive. My only beef was the lack of green grass -- tailgating was extremely dusty and barren. Thought I was in Lubbock. But the women were gorgeous, the tradition is unmatched, and the actual in game experience downright intimidating.

They were ranking the stadiums. Period. Not game day atmosphere.
By your own admission, they are spending $450m to make the stadium commensurate with the "experience".

Kyle Field is a crappy stadium. It's the biggest band-aid, add-on stadium in the country. When they lowered the field they only made it worse...the sight lines suck vertically (can't see the near field from the people in front of you now--due to sight lines), and horizontally (unless you are between the 25s-- outside that it's like watching a game with your head on a 30 degree swivel -- that's why MOST stadiums cant their end sideline seats TOWARD the center of the field. NOT Kyle. )ponyboy wrote:Oh man, I need to get out more. I thought Kyle Field was pretty damned impressive. My only beef was the lack of green grass -- tailgating was extremely dusty and barren. The tackle box is going away. Good riddance.

Kyle Field (as it is) fits in perfectly with the rest of that campus. Perfectly. Like watching a test pattern.

Haha CGD making an annual visit...please. That place sucks and is a pure cult atmosphere. Nothing else.
Been to most SEC venues and my favorite has been UGA. Followed by Bama and Lsu. ATM comes nowhere close in atmosphere. If you want to see top notch stadiums see Bama and your big brother Texas
