Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with the second sentence quoted below. I always wonder when teams offer these young kids what angle they are working, in this case it seems particularly clear.
Brents and Kentucky cornerbacks coach Derrick Ansley spoke Thursday morning when the two were connected through Brents' godfather, Chris Vaughn.

Vaughn is the founder of a training facility in Louisville and works with Brents as well as some of the area's top prospects.

This is so stupid. The NCAA needs to put an age restriction on when you can offer kids. At least let them play high school ball first. Jeez

It's pretty much meaningless at this point. I would love to see those kind of offers be binding. I seriously doubt that this scholarship will still be available when this kid is a few years older. The way UK runs through football coaches, the current one will probably be long gone.

It's Kentucky. Kid has probably been in 7th grade for 5 years.

Hey, hey, hey. Not sure someone from Arkansas can look down on someone else's schooling. Just because the kid is drinking age already shouldn't count against him,

Come on Rev. There are not many states that we Arkies can make jokes about. Anyway, we do not have a lot of 7th graders in Arkansas because they cannot afford day care.

I understand, That's why we like Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana so much. It is always great to yell 'We're #45' when it comes to education.

"It's not a big deal. It's just an offer," Brents said.

I agree.

I found that quote to be interesting. If I was in 7th grade and got a college scholarship offer I would wet my pants.
