Braylon Hyder is a strong, athletic offensive lineman who became part of what is something of a pipeline of talent for SMU, as his commitment to the Mustangs raised to five the number of players from Houston's Lamar High School who will play for the Ponies. Hyder visited with PonyFans.com to discuss the strengths of his game, what offers he has picked up since he committed to SMU and how he concluded that SMU was the place he wanted to be.

I like the size and athleticism, but what I really like is the comments about his mean streak. You can't let emotion take away from technique and attention to assignments, but someone who enjoys destroying the guy in front of him sure helps.
Re: BRAYLON HYDER: Ready for the next step
Love this commit... He will be one of our best
Re: BRAYLON HYDER: Ready for the next step
It wasn't that long ago that we were hoping our recruits would grow into players of this size. The fact that he's 280 already, can move and is kind of nasty? Yup yup!
SMU! SMU! SMU!
Re: BRAYLON HYDER: Ready for the next step
Sounds like an impressive guy, and I love the mean streak, too.

Braylon Hyder Senior Highlites-
I've always liked this guy-loved his Junior highlites considering he really was asked to move to a new position Center and learn a new position during the season. He was raw and not quite as mobile as I'd like. He's pretty experienced now after playing about 29 games in 2 years. They ask him to pull on about 7 plays in these highlites and-while not a sprinter-he is rather imposing and actually is looking to hit someone when he gets there. Probably will need some time to refine pass blocking but I think this kid could be a pretty solid Center prospect on our rather modest recruiting list. Only other offer was UTEP but at least this kid got some legitimate looks from some BCS teams early in the recruiting season. BTW ESPN has him ranked as the No. 8 Center and our 2nd highest recruit after Evan Brown

Braylon Hyder made the All Greater Houston Team-I think it was as a Second Team Center but its one of those Picture slides that's a pain to go through
