Catching Up with Jason Phillips ├óΓé¼” Part I

Post by PonyPride »

In their first season working with new coach Jason Phillips, the SMU receivers enjoyed success ... and at times battled inconsistency. In the first of a two-part series, Phillips sat down with PonyFans.com to discuss his offseason evaluation process of the players and himself, how quarterback Garrett Gilbert affected the receivers' performance last season and whether he prefers to have a clear-cut "lead receiver" on his teams.

Interesting comments from Coach about the body language, and it makes sense. Look for a big season from the WRs in Year 2 with Gilbert.

I understand you have to be super nice for them to talk to you, but come on... This was like Fox News interviewing Romney.

Interesting perspective, but I couldn't disagree more. JP was critical of himself and players. He didn't rip them, but no coach is going to do that over the summer, is he? I thought it was a good, thorough article, and I'm looking forward to the next part.

Maybe he was talking about the line of questioning, no? Whatever the case I think the offense will be fun to watch next year.

I'm with you, 86. I'm especially interested to see what Acker brings to the offense.
