Interesting:

"... I tell people, we’re a run-first offense. That’s what we try to be."

RUN-first?

I think he's a fantastic hire for Texas Tech. You really need a coach that understands that place to be successful. Tuberville never struck me as a "Tech guy" and that might explain his mediocrity there. Kingsbury is a Tech legend, a young and dynamic recruiter, and has the pedigree of coaching Case Keenum and Johnny Manziel. He was a no-brainer hire for the Sand Aggies.

There will never be a better time to do it. First game of the season with a new system, new QB, new coaches, and on the road (albeit not the most hostile of environments).

I'm in and after we take his lunch money we need to give him a swirley just so he doesn't forget that you can't come to our house and push us around.

I agree 100%. However, Tuberville did some things you won't read about that hopefully set the stage for Tech to return to the top of the Big 12 and hopefully compete for a conference championship. Before Tubbs, Tech was all about piracy and crazy, which brought some success but wasn't necessarily a foundation for sustained success. Tubbs brought professionalism to Tech. The first time he toured Tech's athletic facilities, Tubbs remarked how "messy" everything was. After he was hired as HC, Tubbs first act was to insist all AD facilities be kept spotless and organized, especially the weight room. It was many small things like that, plus incredible fundraising talents, that opened the Tech admins' eyes to the fact Tech had a rather amateurish athletic department. Many small improvements can make a fundamental improvement in an organization, and I appreciate that Tubbs put so many small improvements in motion. That said, Tubbs never understood that you can't get conservative with an Air-Raid offense. He cost us several games by taking his foot off the pedal.

You won't notice unless you follow Tech but every sport is rising (finally) thanks to many new talented coaching hires. The "only football matters" ethos is finally disappearing. Our new AD is sharp, innovative and fearless.
