ESPN: Top 25 NFL breakout prospects

Post by Harry0569 »

9. Aldrick Robinson, WR, Washington Redskins

Robinson replaced Emmanuel Sanders as SMU's deep threat, and he showed off that speed in 2012 with a 68-yard touchdown reception against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day and a 49-yard touchdown catch against the Eagles the previous week. If he can do things like that against secondaries that aren't complete disasters, the Redskins might be on to something. After all, Robert Griffin III loves those deep posts from his Baylor days. It's a small sample size, but Robinson had 51.4 percent DVOA, the second highest among receivers thrown at least 10 passes in 2012.

I would love to see this happen in 2013, as long as it's not against the Cowboys.

Some of that modern statistical mumbo jumbo...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_Outsiders

DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) calculates a team's success based on the down-and-distance of each play during the season, then calculates how much more or less successful each team is compared to the league average. According to Football Outsiders, DVOA "breaks down every single play of the NFL season to see how much success offensive players achieved in each specific situation compared to the league average in that situation, adjusted for the strength of the opponent.
