Stay cool ...it its early and the coaches are already hard at work. Kennard is such a good guy I look forward to his brother being at the SMU camp this summer.

I played high school ball with both of the brothers I was a senior the year that Phillip caught the 30 + balls for a 1000+ yards, I have to say he is the real deal and any school that gets him will be lucky to have him, I dont think he will grow into a tight end he is to long and lean for that , the main reason why his stats dropped off this past season was do to the fact that we did not have a quarterback to get the ball to him so we abandoned the spread offense and went back to the wing T

Hey SRW --

Welcome to PonyFans.com!

Since you seem to know PBurley, what else can you tell us about him? What are the chances of him following his brother to SMU? I hear Kenard really likes it at SMU, and obviously it's a very good school, so I'd hope he's make the same choice. It's just too good a fit.

New Article on Rivals about Phillip Burley's Texas Tech junior day experience -

"I don't have a favorite right now, but my top three are Texas Tech, SMU, and Oklahoma State," Burley said.

Sure would be nice to steal a guy from TT and OSU. I've never seen him play, of course (where IS Scurry-Rosser?), but the numbers sure make him sound like a prime recruit.

I am sure Stallion won't like him since it is a small school.

and I'm sure a lot of more coaches would agree with me than you considering only 12 Division 2A players and ZERO 1A players even got NCAA scholarships last year. In order to get a scholarship at that level the kid should completely dominate the opposition -not just put up some nice numbers. I'm not saying that Burley doesn't-just pointing out that it's real longshot generally.

How long until we can get this guy on campus for another camp? Hopefully the coaches (and Kenard) can help close the deal on our first commitment!

Completely agree, we need to get this kid offered and committed if his stats/vitals really tell the tale.

SMU remains in Burley's top three:

"My top three are still the same," Burley Said. "I still like Texas Tech, OSU, and SMU the most right now. I like Tech and OSU because they throw the ball a lot, and SMU is close to home and they provide a great school for education."

If he's genuine with the idea that education means something to him, then I like our chances.

New Update: Recent SMU visit went really well. New offer from Boston College. Interested in longtime childhood favorites OU and Miami although I don't believe they have offered.

I'm thinking the older Cleveland and Burley brothers need to sit down with their younger brothers and talk up the idea of the families being able to see both brothers at once, chance to play with big brother, etc. From what we read, they both sound like they'd help the passing game quite a bit.

this is where recruiting momentum comes in. SMU needs to have some chips start falling their way and those chips appear to be Olson, Cleveland and Burley. We need to get Litt' brothers and HP kids who have a natural affinity to the SMU program to make a commitment early to give Bennett some moe ammunition to point toward progress..
