Tristan Wallace - QB DeSoto 2016

Post by LA_Mustang »

We are chasing big time national recruits in hoops so I wanted to posted this on the football side, DeSoto's duel threat QB was on campus at our camp per ponypride.com. His mom and dad are both graduates of SMU. Supposedly this kid who will be a sophomore has an unbelievable arm and runs a 4.5 40 at 6' 3", 215lbs. Ponypride.com has a good report on the camp, and Wallace - a likely top national recruit, 5-star talent.

Gotta start holding our legacys. David Richards kid is a senior at HP next year. He is a manster. Someone better get on that.

Really? I heard the younger Richards is a very talented player, but doesn't have Dad's size.

I know some will disagree with me but if David Richards has a kid playing football we should have already made him an offer, I do not care what his size is. David was a great SMU player and when you have someone of his past level and love for our school you make the offer, period, if for no other reason than respect for a man that gave us all he was able.

Unfortunately our coaching staff and athletic department staff know little about our past players and therefore probably do not know who they should be looking at from a legacy standpoint. Is anyone at SMU responsible for keeping track of these things or is it up to the alums to get that information to the coaches?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I would hope Jones watched Pony Excess at least once. That would tell him who David was and is.

The HP roster has Tony listed at 6'4 220 lbs. last year. Also throws discus and shot. I believe he was at one of the SMU camps earlier this summer.

I get the feeling Tristan Wallace will really strike a chord with SMU fans.

I couldn't agree more. Surely they are aware of this. If not, someone needs to slap them up side the head and tell them. My patience is wearing so thin with these people.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

There aren't enough scholarships to go around for every prospective student-athlete whose mom or dad played at SMU. However I do believe there should be contact between SMU and it former students to keep in touch and to keep those exes feeling they are important to the university rather than just booting them out the door with a slap on the back when their playing days are over.

There are plenty of scholarships to go around for the child of one of the best players to ever step on the field at SMU who has never stopped loving the school.

What better way to say thanks by giving his/her child a free $200K+ education. If the kid is as good an athlete as the other recruits we're looking at, I agree but if not..............

Everything I have read about this kid points to him being legit, we should definitely start recruiting him and it should help that both of his parents are legacies.
