Klemm was a good recruiter no need to bash him to make ourselves feel better. We have some players we are developing so we have to see how we do this year. Glad we opened the pipeline back up with Dallas Carter after years of it not being there.

#overrated Hey, I liked Adrian too. He was a really, really cool guy! But he also had a penchant for recruiting kids to make headlines rather than filling needs. Sorry, but that's a fact. He was also really good at recruiting kids who didn't have a chance of making it at SMU academically (Darryl Jackson, Davon Moreland, Dontae Levingston, among others). I know with all the Klemm lovers on this board that I'm basically putting the crosshairs squarely on my back, but if he was such a great recruiter and evaluator of talent, where are all his recruits? By my count, there are only 2 Klemm recruits who have earned significant playing time to date (Ben G. and Taylor L.) and 2 others competing at right tackle this year (Reich and Weeks). That's it. As much as I liked the guy, I think it's time to move on to bigger and better things. I'm pretty sure everyone on the team has.

Doesn't look like there's much ambition to move on to bigger and better things. Recruiting has regressed since Klemm left (with no remedy in sight), June is scared to death of our schedule and all his talk of offensive glory and BCS runs has noticeably dried up.

Just curious to know what you base that assertion on? Recruiting rankings from gurus like Laken, or the fact that we just got a commitment from a 4-star QB? Or the fact that this year's freshmen class is the most physically impressive we've had post DP. I know these guys haven't suited up and hit anybody yet, but they certainly look the part. I personally think what we're seeing is a recommitment to the program from June. sbsmith wrote:June is scared to death of our schedule and all his talk of offensive glory and BCS runs has noticeably dried up.
From what I hear, June likes our chances against Texas Tech. That's not exactly what I'd call running scared. He's a very confident guy who believes in his system.

I’m basing that on the 2012 class disintegrating after Klemm's departure and us backfilling with a few lightly recruited players stolen from Sun Belt teams. Last year’s “physically impressive†class was slightly better (not saying much) but still primarily composed of guys with few offers or none at all. The 2014 class looks to be more of the same. June's recommitment looks to be a ploy for an extension and a pretty weak one at that. We still don't look like a program headed for national relevance. I’d call running scared dropping the Baylor game. He can’t be too confident in his system if he’s scared of playing Baylor.

You definitely were not his friend the way you talk about him like a dog now that he is not here. What is the song called that says "they smile in your face." Backstabbers. Two faced. Glad he is doing well at a BCS school now. In the mean time we had to let his replace here go.

Klemm was a self promoter. We need am SMU promoter. Nice guy, and I wish him well but I don't believe SMU was his number one priority.
And the OLine is better since he left.

You must have been one of those guys that hung around with him (since you say he was nice) and are now talking about him like a dog as well. Why didn't you tell him that to his face? Interesting that you did not say that publicly on the board when he was here and now you make those two faced comments about him now that he is gone. Regardless of the opinion that is just two faced mess.

I will decide who I think is a nice guy from interviews and seeing them around campus. I will also judge people for how they perform in the position they are asked to fill. That is not being two-faced, those are two different issues.

When Palcic was hired I did not like the hire and made my that known before he was let go. Apparently Palcic was not better than Klemm and since Suan has never coached a full season at SMU as OL coach we don't know if we are better off. But you said nothing negative while Klemm was here and now he gone you talk about him badly. That is two faced imo.

You call it two faced. I call it retrospective.

On 2/7/13, Klemm was named FoxSports/Scout.com’s Pac-12 Recruiter of the Year. I think that alone should pretty much cover it. But, for those who say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what you could never question if you had a clue as to what was going on day by day is that NO one on this staff worked as hard and long at the job as Klemm. Simply and unequivocally a fact.
