I know you are being a sarcastic jerk like you sometimes are but seriously Hal is the only one on staff with BCS recruiting skins on the wall. JJ got rid of a bunch of old guys that did not like recruiting. He needs to hire more guys with good BCS recruiting success. Now Hal did walk a thin line at UK which got him in trouble but we need more that just one guy like him.Mustangsabu wrote:Hal is too old to recruit. Obviously wasn't him. Must have been a young guy, and dynamic. They are the only ones who can recruit.
We'll see how the "young and dynamic" staff at TT get on four weeks on Friday....

I appreciate the understanding. I was in a contrary mood this morning. Comes from being married to an Aggie coming up on Football season. I say that if Hal can get us the talent. Give Hal the opportunity to do it. We are entering a difficult phase for recruiting because everyone knows that JJ will not be coaching by the time they see the field, so having a predetermined ascendancy could be a huge boost to recruits.

Re: QB commits to SMU
what are the merits of having 3 qbs in one class?
Re: QB commits to SMU
Roughly, it's better than 2 qbs in one class

Re: QB commits to SMU
If Hal truly lands a 4 star QB just a few months in, I'd say "hey, keep up the great work".
Philips also seems to be pretty good - credited with the Lamar pipeline (is he the one opening the Carter pipeline?). If he can get Bonney, I'd say he's damn good, too.
Need 2-3 more, though. VERY interesting to see what happens in 2 years. Will we get the young, aggressive, local, up and comer we are longing for? Who would it be? Would LOVE to get an alum from the early 80s era but I don't think any are coaches right?

Had one from that era that was head coach for a small Louisiana directional school we played a year or two ago. Gone blank on the school and the coach.
