SMUMustangs.comWhat do you all think about the new-look site from the athletic department? I think they made the change because the agreement to be in CUSA stipulates that all of the sites look the same, or are managed by the same folks, or something like that.
At first glance, I think I liked the old site better. The new one seems fairly easy -- all the schedules, etc., are grouped together in an easy package -- but it seems a little more generic, less SMU fan-friendly. Thoughts?
So the new Web site may look a bit more generic, but I like it. It's easier to find the links to the info I'm looking for, it's nice having the crawl (when there's more going on during the academic year it'll be really handy), the changing images are nice. I don't see why you'd argue it isn't SMU fan- friendly.

The change occured this morning. Here is some info on what it is all about.

What happened to the '90 Greatest Moments in SMU History' information? It looks like it didn't make the transition.
Does this mean new branding on products? That horse head is kinda cool-looking, not sure how I feel about the asymetrical "SMU" but anything beats that 90's italicized avanti font that just said "SMU Mustangs" with a pony in the middle.
BTW, I was at Two Rows on Greenville last night and saw one of the new football posters, they are pretty sharp. From high on the hilltop, in Big D...
The link above is not for the home page. Go to smumustangs.com for the home page. "90 Greatest Moments" link is there.
Anyone figure out what mustanglockerroom.com is/will be? I saw the address on that poster MM1965 is bidding on. Looks like an online store for SMU stuff, but you have to log in and once I did, there are no products or anything.

One thing on the new site that I like is the online chat room. You can find it under the "GET INVOLVED" tab. It is not functional now, but I can see some interesting chats coming in the future. Maybe Mr. Copeland will join in on occasion. . . . . NOT
Just send 'da money.
I assume this is all about CUSA's relationship with CSTV and I'm anxious to see how much access the "total access" will bring and at what cost. For those of us miles away, would be nice to be able to watch some games, but certainly appears it will come at some cost.
Props to Grant HawkinsGrant Hawkins -- and before him Ben Guthrie -- did a great, and I mean great, job first creating and then providing SMU with a top-notch athletics website.
CollegeSports.com and CSTV.com will give the site some more features but, in the process, put SMU's site in the same mold as its countless others. That said, Grant and others made sure SMU didn't get some crappy, generic cookie-cutter product from the start. While the new site lacks some individuality and has average funtionality, Grant and the SID folks, hopefully, will make sure that the site remains formidable. This was a somewhat sad day in that the corporate raiders, with their pop-up ads and generic templates, have taken over. Nevertheless, the site does look better than most from CollegeSports.com and hopefully those guys will get caught up on current technology. Give 'em hell, Hawk Man!
Re: Props to Grant Hawkins
I'm not trying to knock the old site..... but it wasn't exactly ground breaking itself. It had a header at the top and a menu bar on the side like countless other sites....
