Reich cleared and back to full speed

Post by mrydel »

I am starting this thread because every time someone bumps the one that is titled that he had a setback to congratulate him on his recovery, I feel like something bad has happened again.

I agree. I kept fearing bad news of a third Reich surgery.

I wonder how "football ready" he is. Strength and conditioning wise. If he's back to full speed and hitting in practice, etc, that's good. I'm sure he lost some lower body strength and had limited conditioning opportunities while he was out? I say be very cautious with him this year. Next year, he can come back as a beast for sure.

I have been in many text chats with Taylor this and last week and I can tell you all he feel's great. He said there is no pain in his ankle and he's working hard everyday. He will have some catching up to do however since he was unable to run over the summer...but he was lifting (even with his boot on) each day when he was home in San Diego. I think they will keep a good eye on him and make sure he doesn't overdo anything..none of us want to see him go through what he has had to endure over the last 2 years-especially him! Once I speak to him directly I'll try to update you all...but as far as I know now...the trainers are doing an excellent job of wrapping him up, he's working his tail off on and off the field-(too busy to talk)...and he's indicated the whole group of linemen are bonding and super fired up for the start of the season!! Maybe one of the reporters will talk to him...if any of you are parents, you know, others always seem to get more info than you do as a parent! :-) As a final note...the doctors were VERY encouraged about his healing and progress after this surgery...hope that helps fill you all in! Jeff

** I am going out to Dallas Sept. 6th for the game against Montana State. Taylor's Uncle Eric (my wife's brother) played for them, so Eric and I will see you all then...watching SMU kick some butt!!

Spoke to Taylor and he is doing well. His ankle is feeling good and he is working hard to get into full football shape. I think they will stay cautious with him and hope for the best-don't want him to have to have another surgery or setback. He is running mostly on "Scout" while he continues to get better and lose weight, etc. Frustrating to him as he is a competitor, but he fully understands and wants to contribute where he can for the team. He really wants to compete and travel with the team this year..the kid has been through a lot..he's doing his best to stay positive and waiting for his chance to see the field for the first time...but his first goal is getting play ready and suiting up...so we are all supporting and praying for him, and hoping for the best.

BEAT TECH!!

I hate to see him held back in any way but it will give his backup a chance to get more reps. We know Taylor will be great come game day. Thanks for the update and look forward to having you in the crowd for Montana State.
