I'm not allowing myself to think this way, BUT of all this stuff was happening to smu that's happening to tech, I could see the board the Saturday after the game looking something like this:

You sunshiners that are mad we lost by 35 really thought we had a chance? The writing was on the wall long before Friday.. Let's see we lost these starters, our starting qb had a bad back a starting o lineman from an already thin line had to sit out, same stuff on d and we had basically one db who could cover, all that with a complicated new offense and first year head coach and you guys are surprised?

No, I'm not gonna do it. But once in awhile my brain drifts across that center stripe and wants to think dear old smu could roll tech the same way we've often experienced

Is Tony Morales a starter?

According to Phil Steele he was penciled in as the starter for the game.

But...

Instead of a 6'3 302lb. Sophomore playing, Tech will play James Polk, a 6'6 332lb. Junior who played in 8 games last year.

So....

this is not that big of a loss for them.

The nice thing about successful programs in the Big Boy conference is they have depth. We may just be experiencing some depth this year. Maybe not Big Boy depth, but depth none the less.

He was a starting guard, but the backup center. This loss hurts Tech. Morales has had chronic shoulder problems since he started college so his loss isn't entirely a surprise.

No. His brother Alfredo Morales starts at guard. Tony is backup center.
