Mike Cavan was always dressed in red or blue, when congratulating the winning coach.
Coach Cavan is a really nice person, but this is too funny
I don't take it so much as a cut on Mike Cavan as an acknowlegement of what JJ has done here. I like that he's not a slacks and taselled loafer kind of guy. He's brought a freshing degree of soul to a university badly in need of it, as evidenced by the fact that we're nitpicking his wardrobe.

I recall seeing Muscamp{sp} when he was the DC for UT wearing a black shirt on the sideline many times … I assume for quick recognition of where he was by the “D”, black is hardly a UT color. Or, some have the asst or GA’s on the sideline holding up huge cards with a variety of pics, numbers, and letters for the play. Coach Odom has been wearing green as recognition for some time, not just or the DB’s but the whole “D”, as he is the one who signals the play in. Last year with the exception of Odom and JJ, the staff wore Red and White SMU shirts … could they do something different and still get the same effect {recognition} probably. But with the staff and the blend of colors of others on the sideline and the stands … black and green will surly stand out on the field to the players. JJ as has been pointed out, marches to his own drum … always has to some extent. His shirt and hat SMU, so do his sweets. You can go to the book store and buy black SMU apparel all day long. I get the sentiment and feelings by some, but for me, not a real big deal. Sort of the times we are in now, black is becoming a neutral/generic color.

Yes, Muschamp wore black very often at ut. He usually wears blue at uf, but some of the assistants wear other colors. Art Briles rocks the black at baylor, as does fatterson. (Though the froggies have added a lot of black to the color scheme.) chip kelly wore a lot of black too, while at oregon. While I would like JJ to wear more red/blue, at least he has been sporting more red/blue SMU hats in recent interviews.
