How do University '' systems '' work? Different chancellors I guess? I assume each athletic Dept is autonomous but seems like there was something in Alabama where Univ of Ala people overlap UAB usu to uabs detriment

The UAB thing was the UA System board (populated mostly by UA Tuscaloosa alums) not allowing UAB to spend system money on a new football stadium.

In general, university systems have a president or chancellor and a board of regents, with each respective university within having their own president or chancellor.

This was really a shame. The coach shouldn't have paid for the kids' tickets and shouldn't have lied about it but this was really about the school president not being able to handle the popularity of the coach. Fans, alumni, athletes loved him. Supposedly a great x's & o's guy (he never worked for Leach but Leach thought he was really bright and spent a lot of time tutoring him). A couple of years ago he had two or three kids taken in the nfl draft.
