Congrats from a KU fan

Postby HawkinTexas » Thu Aug 29, 2013 5:58 pm

Congratulations on picking up Mudiay. I don't think any KU fans thought we had any shot at getting Mudiay, so it's good to see coach Brown pick him up for you all. It's just a bonus that he doesn't go to Kentucky. We're hoping to pick up Turner in the spring though when our scholarship situation becomes a little more clear. I won't be pulling for you in that one unless it becomes clear that we don't have a scholarship available. Again, congratulations. You got a great coach in Larry Brown. (Jankovich too!)

Thanks for the kind words Jayhawk fan. Read some of the comments from KU free Scout site, and they're pretty much the same. . . Unlike Jed Clampett and their kinfolks from the hillbilly state of Kentucky.

P.S. Coach Maligi & Emmanuel Mudiay still going to be working on Myles Turner, even though he's gonna be a tough one to get

Thanks, HawkinTexas. If you're ever in the Dallas area, come see a game. Your KU stuff will be the right colors!

I don't know if you saw any of it, but when Wiggins committed to KU, the Kentucky fans went ballistic. They were sending him some of the most vile messages possible. It was disgusting beyond belief. Clearly it wasn't all of them, but just unbelievable.

I'm going to try to catch a game in Houston. I'll always love coach Brown for what he did and continues to do for KU. For any that don't know, Larry Brown is one of just 8 men to be the head coach of Kansas basketball since 1899.

Perhaps a neutral site home & home in the future for KU-SMU? KC's Sprint Center and Dallas' American Airlines Center?

I've seen KU fans pondering something similar. I guess it all depends on the coaches.

ETA - I should note though that neutral site is unlikely. KU depends on the revenue from Allen Fieldhouse games since our football program is down.

I do want to say something here. Coach Brown speaks very highly and fondly about KU. I have spent quite bit of time with him as his realtor and now friend. He's the BEST! He is such a great man and very "down to earth".... Now more on my opinion of KU fans. I did attend a game at Allen Fieldhouse when we played there in the late 80's. I went to the Sweet 16 here in Dallas last year when KU was ahead all the time (and occasionally by 10 or so) only to lose a heartbreaker in OT to Michigan. It was the first game of two and the KU fans just gutted it up and stayed for the second game of Dallas' Sweet 16 because you can tell they are the epitome of basketball fans. I would have been devastated if we would have lost like that but they just support their team and the game of basketball with very good sportsmanship. I even had a lot of Michigan fans who told me the same about the KU supporters.
P.S. However, I still really want us to get Myles Turner to stay in the Area and pick the Mustangs!!!

Lived in Shawnee Mission for a few years and think the 'hawks are a classy group. Best of luck in the new year. Hope we will meet in the 'big tourney' this next season.

Coach Brown said that he does not want to play KU, UNC, Kentucky or Villlanova unless it is in the NCAA tournament. Because all those schools have coaches that are his friends.

Flip the coin. Bill Self said he would love to play Larry Brown and the Ponies, when SMU held the press conference hiring of Larry Brown.

Yes, but Coach Brown said that it would not happen in response to that statement. No coin flip necessary. It will not happen during regular season.

I'll second that KU fans are pretty awesome. Of all the top programs Duke has squared off with over the decades, their fans are passionate, smart and cool. Just wait til the UCONN!!! rivalry gets going, if you want a counterpoint...
