I hear this all the time on this board and heartily disagree. Even if you're right that we admit two our of three, it matters not a bit. What matters is the quality of the professors. Our faculty is very strong.

Caballo, Renfro is going to set some HS records-- alot of players do...
Personal opinion: playing in the Lightning in a Bottle offense that Todd Dodge runs does not make him D-I material.
I wish him well but at I dont think he'll ever catch a TD for any of the schools you listed.

Translation: we didn't want him anyways.

Fantastic, then why don't we just admit everybody? If "it matters not a bit." Why do we not accept minimum NCAA qualifiers, if "it matters not a bit?"
SMU is a fine institution and its education has served me well. But people favor restricting what athletes can attend SMU because of some perception that SMU is an elite institution, which it simply is not. Elite implies exclusive, and I do know that we accept 66% of the applicants, which in my mind, is hardly exclusive.
The statements cannot be reconciled in any rational way.

Interesting. Have you ever seen him play? I'm curious what makes you say that.
I saw him play twice last year. When you look at him, he's not much to look at. He's so skinny he looks like the cheerleaders could beat the hell out of him. And when you watch him run, he doesn't seem to be running that fast .... until he's behind everyone. And that's just in straight sprints. He stops and starts (and cuts in and out of breaks in his routes) as well as any high school receiver I've ever seen. He's not a 4.2 guy, and I bet he never sniffs 200 pounds, but the guy makes play after play after play. Maybe it's Coach Dodge's untraditional offense -- who knows.
In fact, he kind of reminds me of his dad, who wasn't fast enough or strong enough, either. Worked out pretty well for him, though (although I can't imagine Junior Renfro ever getting as big as his old man).

Renfro runs a legit 4.4 and has outstanding technique. He is 6-0 tall too so he has nice height. He's gonna play somewhere.

I have seen him in person twice, and I would love to see him on the Hilltop!

Renfro will not only play somewhere, but he will eventually start and be a productive player. I have seen Renfro catch balls over the middle and also make some incredible over the shoulder catches when nine out of ten other high school wide receivers would have been lucky to lay a finger on the ball. It does not matter what type of “lightning in a bottle offense†SC runs, it is still premised on throwing and catching the ball. And catching the ball is what Renfro is good at. Facing a third and 8 on our own thirty, I want a receiver who will catch the ball, no matter where it is thrown. Renfro is that type of receiver.
In one of SC’s playoff games last year Renfro made a TD catch on a ball that was eerily reminiscent of his dear old Dad. There was no way he should have caught the ball, much less hang on to it after getting tagged by the DB. No, we don’t want that type of player at SMU. We don’t want to establish a pipeline to one of the strongest high school programs in the State of Texas, and a local one at that. SWC2010, go ask Enright what he thinks of Renfro. He played with him. Enright is in the stable, and would be blocking for Renfro if he came to the Hilltop. If Renfro attends his father’s alma mater, SWC2010 I suspect you will get to see Renfro catch a TD pass for one of the schools listed up close and personal.
Lifeson, I am with you. I would love to see Renfro with a pony on his helmet. Anyone who thinks otherwise probably also thinks Neil Peart is just another drummer. “No, we don’t want him in our band anyway.â€

Renfro will only go to a school that will allow him to do both track and football. He has at least made that part very clear.
