SMU Need's A New Announcer
The announcer was absolutely horrible. He once called us the Longhorns on a play, and sounded less of a home team announcer than I have ever heard. This guy must go. Send Rick Hart a strong message.
About 25 feet from the Hillcrest track... With the boots so tall and the writing on the wall...

As mentioned several places, this guy was only for this game. We have the Cowboys announcer starting next week.

Who vetted the first game announcer? Kermit the Frog?

I know it's unusual for a linebacker to be returning kicks, so I can't blame TV announcers too much for always misidentifying Kevin Pope, but you would expect more from someone who is being paid by SMU.
Also, I don't think most native English speakers would find common names such as Gilbert and Holman particularly hard to pronounce, but this gent obviously did.

He sounded nervous the whole game. His voice was cracking the whole game.
Re: SMU Need's A New Announcer
Good point about Pope. Rich was saying that they used the same kind of tearaway jersey that JaGared Davis used to wear on Pope, but when it didn't fit, they switched it to Lancaster. With players switching numbers during the game, I don't know how the announcers kept anything straight.

Yep, 99% of the garbage being spewed by the Tech folks was just inane drivel. However, the announcing, especially the Longhorn misstep, gave them a quarter or so of fodder that was in defendable.
There were a few minutes where it seemed almost worth it to lose everything I've work for and dive into the sea of red and black. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed, probably helped by the fact that I was the only SMU fan in my SMU section and would have had no backup.

My son & I jumped to our feet when we completed that 50 yd pass and a couple of guys behind me started yelling "sit down, we can't see"...my husband then stood up, too. Spotted empty seats and moved.
