Texas St 22
Southern Miss 15
on the road in Hattiesburg
UTSA 27
New Mexico 13
on the road in Albuquerque
two more mouths to feed in Texas recruiting. Both veteran Coaches with a milestone road victories in 2nd year of FBS membership they can point to. Southern Miss picked a bad time to implode-since they took us to woodshed in 2011 they have lost 13 straight games

Good for them - especially UTSA, since someone on the UNM was quoted saying something about when they play (whatever team is next) after a win in the opener.
Re: New Kids on Block
This might be the most insightful post as to the problems with SMU football. There is not a commitment to winning...there is a commitment to having a football program. The only reason there is a football program now is because the Alumni demanded it post DP. If it were up to Pye, he would have dropped the program. But he could not because the alumni at that time were from Texas and were used to having a team that could every 5 years compete for a cotton bowl against Texas. Now those alums are in their 60s and 70s. The alumni in their 40s and 30s are the "lost generation," who is going to be the Carl Sewell, Paul Lloyd, and Gerald Ford in the next 20 years? Who is going to say, yeah, I will drop 5 million on SMU football...somebody who graduated post 1990?

That's why the post DP generation need to find the successful alums and start convincing them. I've seen Turner talk all day during an smu football game to Blake Mycoskie. Just have to hope the program can one day be self sustaining.
