Re: Montana State vs SMU Prediction Thread
I think this can go either way as MSU are a great team. I saw some good things out of our offense against Tech. Really enjoy the new dimension Mumme has added.

We must win this game or the season comes unglued!
I think SMU will win, but if we don't, JJ is gone before next season.

Win or lose, Junes Jones took us to four straight bowl games.

Hey Pony fans... Cat fan here.
As was mentioned, the score last week wasn't that close. We scored 22 points in 12 plays to start the game, and led 39-3 at halftime. The first stringers came out partway through the 3rd quarter, and Monmouth (Miles Austin's school) scored most of their points on our backups. We ran a very vanilla offense, and have a new OC, so don't expect to have a ton of useful film on our guys.
That being said, the Cats have some weaknesses that we can get away with against average to above average FCS teams, but our achilles heel the last few years has been the play of our lines. Our offensive line last year wasn't very good when we went up against elite FCS teams, and our defensive line didn't fare a whole lot better. Our offensive line is a lot bigger this year (average something like 6'4 290), but our defensive line lost an All-American DT (Chicago Bears now) to graduation, the Buchanan Award Winner (best defensive player in FCS) to graduation as well. His replacement was a senior who many thought was set to have a monster year, but sprained his MCL in fall camp and is out at least another month.
I think SMU should win this game on pure athleticism and depth, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Cats pull off the upset either. We are ranked #2 this year, have a 4 year starter at QB who is going to break most school passing records as well as some conference records, and have a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball (for FCS that is). Defensively we have a good secondary, above average LBs, but our DL depth is thin right now. I imagine we will have a hard time creating pressure and clogging run lanes, and that will spell our doom if true.
I look forward to chatting with you guys this week and of course the game on Saturday!

Re: Montana State vs SMU Prediction Thread
Anyone still rather be playing Baylor here instead as part of an 0-5 start?

If y'all pass first, that plays into our hands as our d line is set up for pass rush and our secondary is much improved. Our run d is a little suspect this year, but that's expected a little with the injuries and graduation since last season. So if Jones runs the ball off tackle, we'll struggle, if not, MSU wins going away. I've never seen Jones try and establish the run so I'll say....
MSU 35
SMU 21
Alright I wasn't going to make a prediction but I have to now...
SMU 45
MSU 17

Yeah about 25,000 fans would rather see SMU v. Baylor instead of SMU v Montana St to be exact

We might start 0-5 anyway, at least playing Baylor would have given us another sellout (we don't often get those).

We would have a very good turnout, until the usual mass exodus starts. It started at the end of the 3rd quarter in the Tech game.
