We did get a recruit from Samoa this year.

I have been labeled a JJ supporter which while not true beyond my having been a Bennett and Cavan supporter before him, I'll bite.

I don't know where anyone gets the idea that JJ was ever going to be any different than he is. He has made a couple of huge foul ups, and in my opinion should have been removed after the ASU debacle, but in my mind he has been as advertised in most respects.

He developed Bennett recruits and history will not divulge whether Bennett would have had the same results. From Saturday's evidence there is reason to be optimistic about our current crop of receivers.

Calling Mayfield a "walk-on true freshman" while true is misleading. He had division 1 scholarships that he chose to turn down to walk on at a better team.

You discount our 4 bowl appearances as if they are nothing. It is at that point your argument becomes nonsense. It is pretty much all you need to say about JJ. He didn't just get us to our first bowl game in 25 years, he got is to another. And another and another. We have not had a year where we have been unable to make a bowl. That means he is developing enough talent to come behind the guys who leave to keep enough to make it to a bowl. Less than 30 teams have made it to bowl games the last 4 years.

I think people are looking more at the fact that he has only won 6 or 7 regular season games in a mediocre non BCS conference in all the years he has been here. While that is a valid argument I think most would settle for 6 or 7 wins per year as opposed to 9 or 10 if it means not going down to Division 1AA.

So you are okay with mediocre regular seasons of .500 or just 1 above .500?

For a lot of us effort and conspicuous enthusiasm mean something. Even the announcers mentioned our lack of sideline enthusiasm Fraday night. jones is a flatliner, and thats simply because he is here for the money. Plain and simple. He could care less if it's SMU or ASU or Hawaii or Eastern Bumstuck as long as the check is big and clears the bank. He unwittingly bit off more then he could chew when he found out that recruiting here is not even close to watching Five-O reruns in the office waiting for someone from the mainland to show up wanting to play.

Comment from a friend who was a very good SWC QB some years back. "june has done a very poor job of adapting his offense to the personnel he has to work with".

It's time to say adios and thanks. Soon. Immediately.

Would you like to attempt to refute any of the points actually made against Jones?

Yes.

But I've been dealing with in-laws and airports all weekend - sorry.

Let me get home and sober up and I'll delve into numbers.

That being said, I stand by that post and its sentiment.
