I have two boys, one of 'em two and one three. EACH of them will respond the same when I say, "Where's the Pony?" That is, they point out the RED MUSTANG on my license plate, or on my signed Pony Express helmet, or on my SMU flag, or on my watch, on one of my many polos...on one of their T-shirts. Show me a RED PONY, and I'll show you one of my kids pointing it out and jumping up and down. (One can imagine when we're at a game & they see the one on the field). And they know what pony ears are. All in response to the other little monsters trained to say gig 'em or hook 'em at daycare, church, etc.

What the hell am I supposed to with this new crap? How do I explain to them that, indeed, they need to be able to point out the...what is it? dropped S? sloping S? Sad, really.

I'm just taking solace in the fact that the new letters/logo won't be on the helmet .... I assume.
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."

Anyone else ever notice, that alot of the same athletic dept. employees that are making decisions with OUR team, are frequently trying to get positions elsewhere? Some moron that's changing the SMU logo, is sending out resumes all over the place!

Are you implying that the officials of the Athletic Department are just doing a job and aren't listening to the wishes of the student body and alumni ?

I don't think there's any implication at all.

It's blatant.

Obviously Mark Cuban (Moe Howard) inspired. Whata crock. Hopefully, this flash-in-the-pan crapola from a northeastern "focus" group will disappear as fast as Cavan's red Jets jerseys.

For some pretty cool SMU hats, check out http://www.lids.com My problem with the bookstore, is why do their hats suck, and why can't they get any of these? I know I've seen a few of these designs in the old Spirit Shop so I know they aren't limited to just 'Lids' stores.

Also, what happened to the "Kick'em Stangs" logo with Peruna looking pissed and blowing steam out his nose. It must be still an official logo because it's on one of the hats on the lids site. Why not get that on more stuff, I think i've only seen it on a sticker set at the bookstore and the back of some hats. Yeah it sounds like we'd be ripping off 'Gig em aggies', but if UT can have 'Hook Em' and Baylor can have 'Sic em' then why not?

I wish someone like McCartney or the Flash people would take advantage of this current situation and blow the competition away with some quality inventory.

I've got a felt wall hanging of that logo from the '60s. Kinda 'retro'-looking. That logo would DEFINITELY sell today...once the winning begins!

SMU fans never can be satisfied can they? Lets bash everything. Listen folks, maybe if people would have bought stuff in the past then SMU wouldn't have to change up the logos and merchandise. But they didn't. So to all of you negative jerks out there, SHUT UP.

If we are going to be overly critical of this new mustangslockerroom.com then lets also be critical of ourselves as a collective group. How many of us have pledged money to fund drive each year and actually paid up. Go ahead and talk to the athletic department and see how many people pledge money but never do, it will make you sick. Its probably a lot of your go buddies you talk with at games. "Hey Bill, you pledge this year?" "Sure did" "How much?" "I don't know?" "Did you pay it?" "Uh, I'll get to it." SURE.

So stop being so negative and do your parts. Also, for those of you who say you have earned the right to be negative, all of us are Mustang fans, not just yall. We all have the right to be negative about what the school is doing. BUT some people choose to be the bigger people about it. We come off as monday morning quarterbacks on a daily basis.

Point to this post: You all think you have the answers to the problems. BUT you are just a bunch of people with too much money and free time so you spend your time saying how much you miss the glory days of smu football and if you were in charge you would have done better. Pointing the finger at who is to blame is your speciality. Middle aged pompous [deleted] most of you probably are.

God I love reading yalls posts....they make me laugh and smile and realize neither age nor money ensures wisdom.

Everyone stay tuned to mustanglockerroom.com, its gonna be a good thing for this school!

Someone is defensive. Ever wonder why people don't throw their money down the hole that is the SMU atheletic program? Reason is that we've seen the money we have spent going to nothing. You'll get my money again when there is a new Sherrif in town.

 Hmmm...Let's see if you're singing the same tune when you're 48 and SMU is still sucking hind [deleted]. Maybe you'll be happy seeing SMU as a 'bottom feeder' or a Div. 1-AA school but I won't.
