Jones #7 on Coaches Hot SeatModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Jones #7 on Coaches Hot SeatI hadn't seen this posted yet.
http://saturdayblitz.com/coaches-hot-seat-top-10/ 7. June Jones, SMU (Preseason: 6); Lost to Texas Tech, 41-23 It doesn’t matter that the season-opening opponent hails from the Big 12. Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury swaggered in with a walk-on, true freshman quarterback who proceeded to hang 5 TDs and 41 points on the Mustangs. This isn’t going to cut it for Jones. SMU hired him from Hawaii to come in and return the program to glory – not to help it qualify for meaningless bowl games. The Mustangs, who were only 4.5-point underdogs, played the Red Raiders close through three quarters. Then Tech started going guns-a-blazin’. Yes, there were some positive signs – starting with 490 yards of total offense. But SMU wants to get back to relevance. That means beating Big 12 programs in ideal circumstances. Getting blown out at home by a walk-on freshman is the opposite of checking that box. Next up: Montana State.
Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot SeatDamn.... But it's all true. Glad someone in the media noticed honestly.

Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot SeatThere are quite a few AAC coaches on that list after week 1.

4 out 10 doesn't exactly bode well for the conference... SMU, Houston, USF, UConn BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot Seattwo lost to FCS.
One lost to FCS last year and had a pretty bad season JJ lost to a B12 team, but has gone to 4 bowls, and still made the list - that really says something.

Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot SeatMaybe we could hire Paul Johnson, or Mike Leach. Both highly recommended by PonyFans just a few years ago just after we phired Phil
![]() Feeling heat: Charlie Weis (Kansas), Randy Edsall (Maryland), Mike London (Virginia), Jim Grobe (Wake Forest), Paul Chryst (Pittsburgh), Kyle Whittingham (Utah), Steve Sarkisian (Washington), Mike Leach (Washington State), Paul Johnson (Georgia Tech). Coaches roulette is a loser's game ![]() May the forth be with us.

Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot Seat
I was thinking the same thing. This is only his 2nd season, right? I mean, they hung on to their last coach for at least 4 seasons with awful results each year, so I'm thinking they'll give him more time because who the heck wants to go to Pullman anyway?
Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot Seat
Definitely depends on who you ask for the answer to that. ![]()

Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot SeatPasqualoni definitely deserves to be #1 on that list.
Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot SeatAfter the Washington Huskies tattooed Boise State in the reopening of their renovated (and beautiful lakefront) stadium, Steve Sarkisian, HC @ Washington, is looking solid. A winning record this season in the PAC12 will earn him a longer tenure and more money.
