I've heard Jermain Beal has liked us for awhile. He's a stud. I'd love to see us get both Beal and Odufuwa. Chinasa would be great too. Slim Shady is obviously a long shot, but he seems to have a mind of his own, so who knows what could happen.

I don't think Chinasa has us anywhere on his list, which is a shame, because he has great ability, especially on the football field. I read someplace that OU is his top choice at the moment.
How many scholarships will we have next year? Bryan Hopkins and Ryan Hopkins will be off the books -- anyone else?
Word is that there is a very good chance at Sloan, too. He's a tremendous player. Actually, I saw him in 10th grade, and he was a tremendous player then. I'm just assuming he's better now.
Arthur, I would assume, has to be priority #1. My thinking is that a slew of stud HS players might end up going to college, rather than the NBA, if the NBA and its players can't agree on the age limit proposal. Frankly, I don't see why that's an issue -- if you're an Alan Henderson or a P.J. Brown or any other servicable-but-replacable veteran, I would think voting for the age limit would be a no-brainer, if only to limit the number of young stars coming in and taking jobs away. Obviously the stars don't have to worry about this -- they're going to keep their jobs and they're going to make their cash. But the majority of players are middle-of-the-road guys who come and go. If the league either adopts the rule or drags out the process like it's a hockey meeting, then there might be a lot more Darrell Arthur types headed to college than we've seen in recent years. If that's the case, we supposedly have a very legitimate shot at getting him. Not a sure thing, by any means, but a very legitimate chance.

according to Rival's latest report on Jermaine Beal on July 1, Beal doesn't include SMU in his Top 6. Apparently he likes a lot of other schools more. Beal is the No. 4 Player in the State according to Rivals affiliate TexasHoops.com which I believe is Mike Kundsted. The main Rivals rating system has him rated lower but still the No. 116 prospect in the country..

We need to land a couple of stud recruits in one class to get some momentum and to help with future classes. Start with the SMU relatives, Arthur and Lewis, and work from there. Yeah, I know this sounds like a pipedream....

landing either would be HUGE. Landing both would cement Jimmy Tubbs as SMU's bball coach for years to come. It could change the face of SMU bball. How long have we been waiting for the 2nd coming of I.T.? I assume the chances of this happening are slim to none but sure hope I'm wrong. Would be nice to see crowds return to Moody, which as Jim Haller said not too long ago "remains one of the great holler houses in college basketball". All it takes is about 6-7,000 in attendance and we have a great home court advantage.

there have been two long additional stories on the recruitment of G Kelvin Lewis Texas No. 14 according to Rivals. Both stories have extensive quotes from Lewis and his coach and it doesn't appear SMU is very much in the picture-although we have offered. Right now he has indicated a desire to visit Tulsa, Charlotte, USC, Virgina, N.D. and Pittsburgh. He probably has over 15 offers so far

give Coach Tubbs two of those 3 guys reporting high interest in SMU and watch SMU's bball fortunes improve dramatically in the next couple of years. For those who follow recruiting closely,, are they still reporting high interest? Somehow I expect that to change once the offers start coming.
I'm envious of programs that don't win but STILL draw huge crowds. Much easier for a coach to recruit when the kid knows his efforts will be appreciated. I know that's been my soapbox for years, but SMU's lack of fan support undoubtedly makes it tough to for our coaches to sell this school.

article on Kelvin and his Global Games appearance in todays DMN suggests SMU is very much in the hunt for Ice Jr. Article says Ice wouldnt mind seeing his son at SMU and that Tcu is not being considered. Also says Kelvin has known Coach Tubbs since he was a little kid.
