Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberHello all. The wife and I will be coming in for a long weekend for the Rutgers/SMU game. i am looking for any suggestions for game day or for the weekend. We are staying downtown at the Omni. We plan on taking the DART to mockingbird station the day of the game. Are their any can't miss bars near the stadium that will fill up on gameday? IF the game is at 12, will any of these places be open early before the game? We usually never tailgate on the road because we are flying in and will lack supplies. I love beer, she loves wines. Also is it easy to scalp cheap tickets at the game? We were going to buy tickets through RU, but I don't want to be stuck in a corner for $35 bucks. Any suggestions for us? Thanks a lot everyone.
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberRead this thread that someone from Montana State asked about what they should do when they come here

Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberThis guy knows how to ask the question. I will say that since you do not tailgate, come to the Boulevard about 2 hours before the game. There will be beer and wine available from willing donors if you get to the right spots.
I will let the Dallas locals give you the details. When you get to the Blvd, find the BUS Stop and Special Delivery spots. They are across from the Mustang Club tent. People can point the way. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberIn terms of close by bars, check out barley house, nodding donkey, twisted root, ozonas and milos on SMU blvd, which is not the be confused with THE BLVD, which is where we all tailgate on campus.
Check out any of the bars on McKinney Ave or Cedar Springs in Uptown at for night life. SMU did get playboy's number 1 school for night life last year BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberWhat time do these mentioned places usually open on game day. Can i get a bloody mary at 8Am if the game is at 12 haha.

Buy the tickets off of Stub Hub, there are some as low as 7 dollars (prices will go down as gameday approaches) and you can sit wherever you want as there will be plenty of empty seats on both sidelines. Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberIf you like Irish bars, Trinity Hall is in Mockingbird Station. May not be many SMU folks in their - though I think done go in on game day, but it is a good place to tip a pint.

Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in October
Dallas is big on brunch and morning/day drinking. The game won't be at 12, probably 2 at the earliest, but to answer your question, yes. Maybe not all of these places specifically, uptown has some really good early drinking spots, but its not hard to find bloody Mary's or mimosas. it's actually hard not to ![]() BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in October
Ozona's has a build your own bloody mary bar on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast/brunch. They also have good food.
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in October
Trinity Hall is a solid spot. I also forgot to mention Banditos in Snider Plaza (on the other side of campus) if you want some Tex Mex and big asss margaritas. BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberTHanks for the input guys.I usually skip out of the Rutgers Alumni tailgate, because in general they are snoozers. We are planning on going to the 6th Floor museum and stopping by the texas state fair for some random truck food too.
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in October
If you're hitting up the state fair, bring both your cholesterol pills and Maalox. . . Fried foods are popular at the state fair. You remember the movie Forrest Gump? The part where they list every possibility with shrimp. . . Same thing with fried products at the State Fair. 2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberThe ozona place looks like an awesome spot to go to. Will certainly hit that up on game day.
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberThe George W. Bush Presidential Library just recently opened on campus and is pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing. I've taken several friends to it and they really enjoyed the visit- the 9/11 exhibit, in particular, is pretty powerful regardless of your political affiliation. You can usually go through the exhibits in about an hour or so.
Ozona's in the morning before the game is highly recommended. Also be sure to hit up the Boulevard on campus for tailgating. Most everyone is nice and friendly and willing to share a beer or burger with opposing fans. 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Rutgers fan coming to Dallas in OctoberMake sure you make it to our beautiful campus early and cruise the "Boulevard" Game Day experience. It is a must and finding libations will not be a problem. Classic event.
