OT: Baseball Rumors

A family friend of mine plays baseball as a senior in HS. One of his teammates said that an SMU official/representative reached out to him and mentioned that SMU is working to establish a baseball team. He also claims that the members of the current SMU club team will be the first players to receive scholarships. I'm somewhat dubious, but the teammate isn't the joking type. Is there any truth to this rumor?

otherwise, lacrosse is much more likely to be our next sport - and that probably isnt happening any time soon.

I don't know the current status, but didn't we have Title IX issues a couple of years ago. Given that, I think Women's Lacrosse would be the next up.

SMU has a club baseball team? Either way I'm still waiting for IPF, lacrosse, track, and natatorium.

Not happening. SMU athletics operates at a steep deficit and is more likely to cut sports before adding any, especially any that require any kind of facilities. If anything were to be added, it probably would be men's track, since we already have a track (albeit one that is not suitable for hosting events), but I don't think that's likely, either. I would think another women's sport would precede any men's sport.
