I think it has more to do with play calling. I finally saw a playmaker on the field last night but unfortunatley he was only returning kicks. I believe that is what we lack the most. KC looks like he can be one as well.
I couldn't agree more with the play calling, but our players appear to not understand the game or indiscipline when they get tons of penalties. Also receivers need to consider playing soccer(of course they need to be faster) cause they can not catch to save their life. The defense look like a bunch of high schoolers. I mean a FCS team basically made them look like girls.

Still can't get pass the fact our D, which kept us in so many games the last year or two, is so gawdawful. Like horrendous. I've gotten used to seeing the O sputter around the field, but seeing the D get mowed down by an FCS school is disappointing.

The defense last night was driving me crazy. There appeared to be no real desire. Between plays they just loafed along looking uninspired and bored. And again the DB's are 10 yards off the line ready to give up 5, 8 yard and more passes. Are they so slow they can't bump a receiver at the line and then keep up with them?

I think more was bad tecnique. The DEs and LBs were "catching" the ball carrier rather than attacking. They would get in position then let the carrier come to them and then they would get knocked backwards. And I know Jason B and others may disagree but this, in my opinion, is due to the lack of full speed, take them to the ground, hitting in practice. They are playing soft and need to be more aggressive. They can get there but it will take a few games if they are not going to do it before the season starts.

Jagared and Reed were about the only kids that seem to show fire. I know Joyner is that kind of kid but this year everybody seem so emotionless.

body language of this team early in that 2nd half was of a bunch of guys who had quit or were completely demoralized. Sure hope that finish breathes some life into these guys. They are going to need some for these next 3 games

Yes "teaching tackling" without practice obviously isn't a very effective technique. The results were apparent last night.

Tackling against Tech was not good. Do you not remember the one play from about the 12 where the receiver ran through and around about 6 players? Angles were poor and there were many yards after catch. The only difference was Tech chose to throw 95% of the time and the receivers were so open it was not as obvious as it would be on running plays.
You cannot defend our defense in the past 2 games. We need to improve.

Of course there's reason for concern, starting with Margus Hunt, Taylor Reed, Ja'Gared Davis, etc., being gone. You have to replace players every year. We know that. But that was the best senior class we have replaced in years, and many of them started for several years. I thought before the season that this was a borderline bowl team, and that hasn't changed after 2 games. I thought we'd lose to Tech and beat Montana State, and we did. For the record, I think we'll lose the next 2, after which I'll still think we're a borderline bowl team.

Yep! That excellent tackling was on display in the 2nd half of the tech game giving up 28 points

I think June's halfa-ssed approach with this team has finally taken hold among all the players. The fiery guys like Jagared are gone and these guys have been exposed to his indifference for too long.
