I would think UT could get someone with more of a proven track record than Kinsbury. Not saying he won't be a successful coach, but he's coached all of 3 games in his life. UT is arguably the top coaching position in college football.

And he always bashes SMU whenever he gets the chance...

I love David Shaw and I would be really bummed if he left Stanford for UT. I like having a school out there that proves you can have great academics AND athletics

Notre Dame!!! The best example with the longest history that both can work.

Oh you're right...I doubt they'd have the balls to hire Kliff Kingsbury..
With the kind of talent UT automatically gets they dont need to take any kind of gamble
and I am thrilled they wont.....I would HATE to see them get Kingsbury,
I hope they keep Mack!
I will sign the petition to KEEPMACK@UT

I don't think UT goes after Sumlin. If he turns down UT and it goes public (which it would) it would make UT look inferior to A&M and the Aggies would never let them hear the end of it. Too much ego at risk. Same (but to a slightly lesser degree) for Patterson or Kingsbury. Going after those coaches acknowledges that the other schools are above UT (whether they are or not is a different argument, but UT certainly believes they are still the top dog)

Kinsbury wouldn't leave Tech anyway. That's where he graduated from and he's got it made out there. He's like Leach except he's not a jerk.
