Do they not post the schedule of the games anywhere so the students know when they are being played?

There are poster schedules in common areas here and there. I could see how people pay about as much attention to those as one might the HP schedule posted on the window outside Bubbas etc

But I would still think that in the middle of football season, if someone wants to go to a game, why are they waiting to see if they get an email about the game? Maybe I am missing something but I would think a person who wants to go to a game would know when it was and when to ask about tickets. Sorry if I am lost on this one.

kids are lazy and millenials. They want everything done for them, however pretty bad on SMUs part. Typically there are emails sent out to all students and faculty about various things like this.

No no no. Two years ago, they only offered TCU tickets to the students who had attended the first couple games. They made it exclusive. So I think the assumption for the juniors and seniors was that they did not do what they needed to do to be offered the tickets, since none of us received an email.

Now Rick Hart wasn't here two years ago, so he isn't to blame, but I know there are people in the department who know this could have caused some confusion.

Some good news though. I was told that Student Senate is considering renting busses for transportation for students. I think thats a great way to limit some risk.

The internet is really an amazing thing. Did you really need an email to tell you that you can buy tickets? Sometimes you have to take some initiative; the ticket office can't be but so far from your classes if you don't have any access to a computer at all.

Geez SMU and TCU have the exact same official Ticket seller-TicketMaster. "Our Tickets" are still availiable to purchase on-line from the same seller-just likely to be surrounded by TCU fans now because we couldn't sell our alottment. BUT----here's your invitation-please RSVP.

OFFICIAL INVITATION TO SMU STUDENTS:

PONYFANS officially invites all SMU Students to purchase tickets to the SMU TCU game!!!!!!! Purchase your tickets at the following link

So in other words the Mosquitos were given a heads up to clear out for a day.

Did anyone tell the students that lunch was being served today?

I understand the need to communicate from a pure marketing perspective, and obviously they should be doing that. I do not understand the thought process that students did not know tickets were for sale because no one held their hands and told them.

This is not an issue of hand holding!!! The students are not idiots. The issue is that 2 years ago for the game at TCU there was a LOTTERY for students to be eligible (along with checking their ID number to make sure they had attended at least one of the first two home games) to purchase tickets. The students received an email with instructions on how to become eligible for the lottery. It's easy to understand why at least the juniors and seniors would have been waiting for a similar email this year as the way for them to be eligible to purchase the tickets. For other away games this had not been the case.
