So I think the assumption for the juniors and seniors was that they did not do what they needed to do to be offered the tickets, since none of us received an email.

Now Rick Hart wasn't here two years ago, so he isn't to blame, but I know there are people in the department who know this could have caused some confusion.

The internet is really an amazing thing. Did you really need an email to tell you that you can buy tickets? Sometimes you have to take some initiative; the ticket office can't be but so far from your classes if you don't have any access to a computer at all.

Maybe I'm not making myself clear. First of all as SMUPonyMom said we thought it was a lottery, so I was waiting for the email. Additionally There is a perceived difference between any old ticket online and the ones bought at the box office at SMU. There is a perception that the tickets at the ticket office will 1. Be in the SMU section 2. Be better than whats sold online 3. Potentially be cheaper.

And you know what, I did exactly that. I went to the box office and inquired about buying tickets. But I am not a typical student.

Any marketer will tell you that it can never hurt to prompt potential customers to take action and buy...especially when the cost of that prompting is free
