Just waiting for the announcement of a post game concert featuring: Motley Crue, Ratt & Poison

The Crue was just getting noticed in 83, I don't think Poison and Ratt had surfaced yet. From 80-83, RUSH had put out the Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight and Subdivisions, just to name a few!

Yep, Rush was the big one for my crowd... But hey, I will stomach any of the other 80's crap they roll out, and yes it will be crap!
I wouldn't mind hearing a little from Yes' 90125 Album though!

SID-Why didn't Nike copy the pant stripe from 1983? It seems like such a waste to make the Jersey as similar as possible but screw up the pants.

I hope we go to the 1983 jersey for our white uniforms too. Those big over the shoulder stripes look horrible.

AKA the athletic department is too cheap to get different helmets. Yes, I know they're almost the same, but still.

I'll make you a deal. Each helmet costs $250-$400 depending on what you want (chromed, etc.). Shoot me your email address and I'll send you a pledge card for $40,000 ($400 x 100 helmets) and we'll get them ready.

In all seriousness, they are expensive, but something I'm sure we'll explore in the future.

Damn my old high school has two different helmets (smaller roster) but that still has to be a good chunk of change....

Dbone. Couldn't have said it any better. The administration has considered it almost as if it's a voodoo hex if we wear those unis. So much for rational thinking on their part.

I believe one could make the argument that 'their' thinking has held not only the athletic program back but the university as a whole.

Zane Perry, director of equipment operations at Texas Tech University: When Coach came in, he said he wants to do everything possible to get some more helmets in here, because it adds excitement for the players and helps out with recruiting. So we sent our budget request in to the athletic department and it was approved.

Eh hem. Hint, hint. Nudge, nudge.

Jason Freeman, assistant equipment manager at the University of North Carolina: Last year, we wore the chrome helmets with the Tarheel foot, and that was a one-game thing. Those didn't come out of our budget -- we had our university's marketing firm pay for the helmets. Then they auctioned 'em off after the game to get their money back. I think they sold out within two days.

Is there any way we could get a pre-purchase pledge or set up a private donation fund to do this?
