"Wow it looks hideous" could be used to describe pretty much anything about our football program.

More proof JJ knows he's gone. Why even try? Not that he ever really torched it, but no effort AT ALL now. If you think we're bad now, give it 2-3 years -- it will get worse.
I actually felt our 2nd-3rd string against aTM looked better than their 2nd-3rd string. I think we have some gamers in backup roles, but don't know why they don't start them (Minor looked good, just looked a little out of shape from not playing . . . I know both Taylor and Gaines made some mistakes, but I'd still start them as I would Lincoln Richards).
Our offense hasn't looked TOO bad, but what's surprising is how bad our defense looks. I hope we see SOME improvement when Joyner gets back and if we play Minor and Richards more . . . and what's up with Hollie? Need to put that dude in the middle when playing against a running team like Rutgers).

Honest question:
1. Recruiting looks like he is gone 2. Buyout ends after this season 3. Man has never let anyone else run the O yet we bring in Mumme and are pretty much fully running his system 4. He looks even less invested than before
Add it all up - Is June even rrally the coach this year? Is Mumme actualky running the team and June just here to save face and save buyout? Retire at end of year?

They are trying to redshirt Hollie so he can work on his strength in the weight room.

I've thought the same thing for a while. It ticks all the boxes for me. It treats JJ with respect while having some continuity. Bring in some more young and aggressive TX staff and get moving on to the next level.

Can't believe anyone would allow him to do something like that but I guess it doesn't really matter as long as June, Mumme and every one of the assistants get purged from this program at the end of the season so we can start anew.

If mumme was running the team why wouldn't he be pushing to improve the recruiting? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I can't believe they would allow it either, but if that is the case (speculation on my part, I know), I see no reason why we would wait until mid December or later to name our new coach. Pluses to naming a new coach early: * By selecting early and paying top $, we get the cream of the assistant coach crop. * Allows new HC time to recruit (remember JJ's 1st recruiting class here at SMU, he simply didn't have enough time to build on the momentum of his hiring). * Better optically to resend some of these DIR offers earlier than later. Only reason to delay is if choice is current HC; otherwise, name him in Oct or Nov, especially if JJ has truly checked out. Assuming JJ is not around next year, NO WAY we can keep this class intact, it is a momentum killer.

You cannot name a currently employed assistant coach as your head coach in October. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

We need to start fresh, purge, renew and win. I know many of you disagree, but, with the talent we have, plus a number of strong JUCO transfers and I think we would soon be in business. Young dynamic coach that can inspire out players and our fans required. He needs fire.

#3 is the most significant for me. I assumed Mumme would be little more than a receivers coach. However, the entire offense has changed and Mumme looks to be calling the plays or at least having a big influence. Could it be Tom Mason with Mumme as the OC? While I like both, I think it's gotta be a significant departure, especially to get away from the non recruiting culture
