Kirby Smart will have a Power 4 school job if he ever wants it.
I think Kirby is waiting for Saint Nick to retire in Tuscaloosa. It's laughable to think he would consider the job here.
Mike Sherman-Recruited well at A&M (you're welcome Sumlin), Texas ties, NFL Skins Pete Mangurian-Has spawned other HC's, Texas and SMU ties, NFL Skins all the way to the OC level
Marty has an incredible winning percentage over his years of coaching and has ties to many successful current and former head NFL coaches. And, although a Steeler’s fan, I always liked the way his teams played, which was hard-nosed football with a balanced offensive game plan. His son is currently the offensive coordinator with the Rams and has had other successful assistant coaching stints with other NFL teams. Marty still has some name recognition, and I believe his long term ties to the NFL will be beneficial with regard to evaluating talent and recruiting. Thoughts?

Schottenheimer's a real ball-buster, not sure if he'd be on-board with the nature of the college game.

Yes, he is a ball-buster, but that is what I like about him. He has always appeared to relish being a teacher of the game and may gravitate toward instructing the younger players because of their desire to learn and succeed. He may also like the thought of coaching with his son. What I do know is that we need all hands on deck to right this ship and a collaborative effort of good coaching minds with NFL ties may work. I view it as a situation similar to that of Larry Brown, where there is an elder statesman paired with a head coach in waiting.
Chad Morris. Period. CoC get your checkbooks out and give him whatever recruiting budget (for staff!) needed.
Do it now. Right after this season. Give JJ a nice send off and huge thank you. We need swagger, marketing, and recruiting in football. Anything less, let's shut it down IMHO. NOW is the time.

notice Sumlin @ aTm, Kingsbury @ tech.
I would agree. I'm in for a hundred bucks. No CoC, just a sqare of the root.

Did someone really just suggest friggin Marty Schottenheimer? Don't we currently have an old NFL re-tread with no record of solid recruiting? Are we collecting them?
Our chances of landing Chad Morris or Kirby Smart are slim - both will likely be pursued by power conference schools with openings this off season.
We will likely have to roll the dice on an unproven coordinator with some Texas connections - the make or break question is whether he will he be the next Gary Patterson or Phil Bennett?

But we have to get an interview with both. As much of long shot as it would be, we must try to hit a HR. this hire is going critical.
